Various figurines for my son

Posted by raph86 on 30 Sep 2023, 21:17

Hello, I'm going to show you three years of painting figurines from various manufacturers and eras that I originally painted for my son, but he's since given up these little soldiers for playmobil and Lego....
More photos to follow.

Perhaps not all is lost, perhaps you can do the same as I did for your son and his games.

A few years ago I was informed that someone wanted to do the Battle of Grolle using PlayMobil figures. Having been there with various members of my regiment I set about using bits of Playmobil people to make them for the diorama.

I found some useful figures and parts on eBay, and turned some more up in Lidl one day. The changes were mainly done with masking tape or some miliput. I did the conversions based on the actual people from the photographs. One of my friends is quite tall, so I added some 1.5mm plastic card inserts to his body and his legs to make him taller than a standard figure. The brims of the hats were also done with sheet styrene. Facial hair is also important and while one figure came with stubble aready painted on, the rest had to have theirs painted on.

In the end the figures never made it to Groenlo, maybe one day.

I began by looking at steve's reply and working my way up the page. I was very impressed by many of the figures and thought the style looked familiar. I got to the top of the page and discovered it was you Raph. Here I thought you only painted Nappies. Looks like you've done figs from every era. They're all very nicely done with your usual flair. I hope your son can share the joy that you have in our favorite scale.
Cheers,

Great job! maybe he would prefer 1/35-1/32 soldiers, more compatible with Playmobil and Lego! and when he is older, he might enjoy the 1/72 more ;)

Hello, thanks for the comments and for re-launching this post as I forgot to complete it with the figurine I used in the contest.
So here's a Gaul in trouble.
Lately I haven't had time to paint and since January 1st I've caught the flu or COVID the doctor doesn't know and I've spent 10 days with a fever of over 39° in bed. Since then I've had a hard time recovering and I'm very tired, but I'm starting to get back on track. I wish you all a happy new year 2024 and, above all, good health.

When your son will have his own children, I believe he will like to show them these 1/72 figures and play with him.

Amazing painting job.
