My name is Coen and I'm 19 years old, for two days now. I'm living in Nieuwegein, which is a sort of suburb to the south of Utrecht.
This city has been elected to be the 2nd ugliest city of the Netherlands
! I've just finished the secondary school for a few days now. This year I'll start my study of history and Latin in Amsterdam.
My interest are, well, anything that has to do with history.
My hobby's are, beside painting miniatures, reading,karate and hanging out with friends.
I've been painting for just I few years, think 3 years or so, with some breaks when things got to busy. So I'am really a newbie.
It toke me a long time to discover this hobbie as here in the Netherlands there aren't that many small hoibby and toy shops selling miniatures.
This is caused by just a few large companies dominating the market
. As a child I played large battles with the famous green amy man but also with some curious 1/72 figures and some silver WOI scots. I discovered this hobby when I walked in a hobbyshop with my father who's collecting model trains.
Until now I've only been painting Napoleonic French, British and Dutch army's and the occasional different set. I'm really a slow painter but recently I improved my speed. I'd love to be introduced in wargaming but in the area there aren't many people wit the same hobby.
Wargaming would be the next logical step as it would combine my passion for painting miniatures with the passion for Total War games.
So, that's what I can tell I think. And I'd like to say tha't thit's a really nice forum.

Hello - my name is Jay, and I live in North Carolina in the United States.
I recently discovered this site and I was very impressed by all the great painting and models I saw, plus all the diversity from people all over the world, and I had to join!
Ive been painting on and off since I was about 10 (im 38 now). My father used to paint plastic ACW and Vietnam figures, and I started attempting to copy him (poorly, I must say). I also went through the beginning of a GW phase back when Rogue Trader came out. I then hit high school and college, and painting went totally out the window with the discovery of friends, partying, and women
. A few years after college, I settled down a bit (well, a lot more than a bit!!!), got married, and rediscovered painting with the Lord Of The Rings figures from GW.
Only recently (within the past few years) did I discover there were other things to paint other than Space Marines. Ive been painting anything historical - from Ancient Greeks, all the way up to ultra modern in Afghanistan. I only discovered 20mm/1/72 scale figures at the beginning of this year, and I now consider that 'The Lord's Scale'
(although Ill paint anything that catches my fancy) I typically paint metal figures, but I have dabbled in plastic a bit too.
I also have a blog http://theraptorsnest.blogspot.com that I started as basically my own diary of the work I have been doing, sharing with only a couple buddies who also paint, as well as a couple family members.
Anyway, thats my painting history in a nutshell. Thanks for looking and Im excited to be here!

Well let me introduce me in the right way after posting some foto's in the forum.
My nams is Marc Bazelmans 44 years of age and living in the Netherlands in Kapelle near Goes in the province of Zeeland. I am a wargamer now for about 15 years with a main interest in medieval/dark ages and early ww2. I have armies in 6mm for early desert ww2 german and british, 6mm medieval troops based on woeringen, 6mm norman and saxon arm, a 1/72 saxon and viking army and a 10mm third crusader army.. I am currently working on a french and english HYW army using the briliant Zvezda figures. We play home made rules for ww2 and WAb for the dark ages, we use shatterd lances for the medieval period but i am working on houserules for this as well since i miss the depth in the medieval rules most of the time.
Wargaming mostly takes place at the club every friday night. I am a member of the TSA in Antwerp.
Been a lurker on this site for a while and I am impressed about the level of painting but also the activity here on the forum. Hope to get more inspiration in the future from the forum.

Hello! I'm a new member. I live in the USA. Just starting in 1/72 working on two big projects -- enough figures to fight the battle of Ia Drang Valley and the battle of Thermopylae. They're for my wife's students, she teaches world history. Using rules from junior general. So far I've desprued, "shaved" (removing mold lines, etc.) and primed 175 ESCI NVA infantry and 100 US "elite" soldiers. I've not done some of the "Elite" poses because they're not right for Ia Drang (e.g., M60 Rambo Man and the beret characters). Even found a way to make SE Asian conical hats for the Main Force VC at Ia Drang too. I've also finished de-spruing and "shaving" about 800 Persian and Greek figures, but they're not primed and mounted for painting yet. Yes, I've been working on these for 10 months. I need to buy and paint even more Persians, particularly cavalry, so that the kids can find out (if they try) why trying to run 1,000 cavalry down to the Phocian Wall is *not* a way to start a Persian Emperor's day.
The work posted here is just fantastic, and I'm looking forward to learning how to paint better. With all the above, I'll need speed tips!

His son and I didn't get along particularly well. When we'd fought enough, and were bored enough, my dad returned from town with a box of Airfix WWI British Infantry and German Infantry. My cousin and I played happily for the next month, setting up battles, having artillery duels with rocks (soldiers as targets this time!) and attacking each others' trenches. I don't know why I thought of that, but it's a happy memory.

I'm 49 years old and have been a hobbyist for almost as long! I build 1/48 & 1/32 scale model aircraft, dabble in ship building, and I love toy soldiers or military miniatures! I ususally stick with 1/32 scale figures in the Napoleonic, Civil War, WW II eras. I just got into 1/72 scale figures in the Medieval era. Why? Hello at all,

I'm into 1/72 figures since I was a kid. Some years ago I had my first tries in painting. Now I found this forum and I hope to learn something more about painting and hope to see the wonderful works of the other forum members.

My name is Kurt Vellek and I discovered this forum about 10 months ago when I got tired of the mindless arguments that seem to dominate the forums of scale figure manufacturers. From the start I was totally blown away by the both exquisite work done by its members, but also the friendly collegial atmosphere. I had to jump in and be a part of it!
I am 46 years old and live outside of New York City. I work in a law firm that has offices all over the world and has allowed me to visit the UK and Europe a number of times. My love of plastic soldiers goes back to the days of the 1/32 battle sets (The Blue and the Grey, The Alamo, Fort Apache) found in the Sears Wishbook (and under my Christmas tree!) in the early 70s. From there I developed a love for modelling military fighting vehicles, but with my limited skill was better at MPC 1/72 (back then it was HO/OO) scale kits that came with a plastic base and a sprue of Airfix figures. Some kid down the block clued me in to Airfix figure kits, and I was hooked for life. We painted them (badly) on my parents' picnic table with whatever paint and brushes we could find and fought and re-fought battles over piles of dirt, the coffee table, my little sister's Fisher Price castle...whatever.
Then came girls and sports, and my figures were divided up into two shoe boxes and put in the attic; one of Airfix Napoleonics and the other of Airfix WWI. I have no idea what happened to the rest. When I came home from college in the 80s I got a "real" job & discovered those two shoe boxes. I finally had some money so I bought better paint (enamels) and as many Esci figures as I could find. I went on Ebay and rebuilt my collection, boxes and all!
I truly love the hobby and my wife of 21 years supports me 100% -- because it keeps me sane and less cranky. My collection now spans all manufacturers and historical periods. Out of our four kids only the youngest son, now 10, has taken any interest. When I get home I find him fighting huge battles on the carpet, and it brings me back to 1972. He gets the whole shebang when I meet my maker.
My deepest thanks to Benno and all the members for the contents of this forum. It is amazing, and few things in this world get a New Yorker amazed.

I'm Oriol from Barcelona (Spain), I'm 30 years old, married and with a 8 month daughter. I work as a teacher in a university.
I paint miniatures since a long time ago first airfix and matchbox them warhammer and finally historical ranges in 28mm and 1/72. My main interest is the napoleonic period in Spain and the Spanish succession war. I paint mainly for wargaming.

I m from Sarajevo (Bosnia) and I made my first model kit about 30 years ago. Last 10 years I m very interested in painting 1/72 figures from WW2. In the moment I m finishing some figures and very soon I ll be able to show my first pictures here.

Hello to all,
I have been following this forum for a while and finally decided to join in "officially". As an intro to all members here:
1. I am from Malaysia and have been doing scale modelling since 1976.
2. My interest has always been in modern era (Granada onwards) - planes, ships, AFV & figures but have a liking to ancient/medieval figures too
3. Its an on-off for this hobby in recent years due to work commitment but I am picking it up back.
4. I am now trying to finish up my boxes of 1/72 figures that I have been collecting and picking up dust on the shelves.
This what started me back into figure painting:
The figures was completed much earlier using GW paints and the traditional wash/highlight technique ( I am now practising the dip technique learnt here using WinMax wood stain). Then a few months back there was a competition by a local modelling club and I hastenly assembled this simple dio. To my surprise, it won the judges' choice award! Lucky me....
Since then I have been doing (rather slowly, ie 1hr/day) figure painting and attempting to finish as much as possible.
Hope I'll learn more from all the Masters here..... Cheers

I´m the owner of the companie Imperial-Modellbau.
I produce short series of models in following scales:
15mm , 1:72, 28mm, 1:16 and 1:1200+2500
in resin and white metal
Also i built moulds for user projects and new companies (or private series) and give startup backup for moulding and casting.
For the future i planed some brandnew stuff for scale 1:72 ancient and i hope you like it.
In a few days i´ll show you some of my projekts and i hope you´ll like it.

Hi, my name is Oscar, I'm married and I have a child who is forearmed. I live in La Orotava, a town in Tenerife, Spain. For many years I love the military miniatures, my beginnings were with the figures of 54mm and recently started to enjoy miniatures 1 / 72.
