10mm Naps- Berg Lancers and scots

Posted by Adam on 14 Jan 2009, 19:41

These are a few of the things I was painting before Christmas which I never got round to posting. I started on some samplers for the hussars and lancers (from flashing blade) I had got back in late april for my birthday.

I always do one figure to completion before painting a regiment just to see how they will look. I couldn't decide whether to do a hussar regiment or lancer, but eventually settled on lancer, I then decided to do neither the dutch or polish guard ones but the lancier de berg regiment in their limited use white and amaranth uniform. Don't ask why, I'm not sure myself, but if something inspires you you have just got to go with it

I then rolled on and decided to finish off my third british battalion to complete my brigade.

So now I am up to 2 british line in dark green and blue facings, scots with yellow, and a regiment of berg lancers and picton, hardly and army, bu tgetting there! I still need a few men each to bulk up each of these regiments which I plan to buy in february from the wargames show in york. That will make each regiment 40 men plus 4 command figures: 4x bases of 10 + 1x command base of 4 . When I have done my Zulu project in the WIP section I shall paint my hussars.

What are your votes on which of the two to do:-
blue and red?
green and red?

then I can hopefully move on to some french infantry and british cavalry and some artillery for both sides.

So heres a 'so far' shot of the Nappie project

Hi Adam,

That is a monks job (free translated from an old dutch saying). It means such as: what a tremendous job.
So small!! But so good!!

No merely a bit of texture and undercoated christiaan, I'll dry brush and flock them at a later point when I have a littl emore idea about the surface of my new game table.

Okay.
Count me in.
I HAVE to get some 10mm figures, too.
:winky:

Kilts.. I still don't believe it.
And the flags ?
Are those made by Rofur, or are they..
No.
Please tell me they are not hand drawn..!

I paint the flags by hand, they are done on old yoghurt pot foil and smoothed flat with a scalpel edge, then I free hand paint them. I can create and print them myself, but I really like a painted flag to match the unit and I quite enjoy it!

Each flag is 10mm x 12mm

This is really astonishing! Great! And I din't paint any pattern on my kilted guys because I thought them too small! They're 1/72! Thanks Adam for showing us this!   And those flags look great too!

Hells teeth, you've got to admire those tartans. You must have hands like a surgeon, no wobbles or shakes at all.

but what a pity that Adam you're going the wrong way. or are you just painting some 1:2 toys for your real nappy boys (which are 1/72)?

Great work Adam...I always thought that it was easier to paint 6 and 10mm rather than 15mm or 1/72...I think the secret is not going for loads of detail but just hinting at it, and also using a slightly brighter colour than you would use on a larger figure
