The King returns to his throne :notworthy:

Congrats Thomas I picked this one to go all the way from the start and should have recognised it as yours but didn't. :roll:
With 3 months to prepare for the next comp is there anyone to stand in your way? A frightening thought :drool:

Loooking forward to see what you can come up with

I am honored! Thank you!

@Old Wolf: I am terribly sorry. :mrgreen:

@Grumbler: Still searching for old photos without too much landscape on it. ;-)

The idea to create WW1 Russians for the competition came when I heard the new audio book (best while painting) from Ken Follet "Fall of Giants".

The topic of WW1 without using the usual mud and trenches. Zvezdas new Russians were a good choice. The figs are perfect for conversions with their separate arms. And they have a good choice of running and advancing poses in the box. The plastic is also very hard, so it stays in shape when you bend it with a pincer. For a more dynamic effect I made a hill the Russians are moving down. I saw this first on a diorama done by my friend Michel (Swedish 30YW cavalry).

Some Russians are hit by German machinegun-fire and their (Hat)-officer still lies dead on the ground. Sorry Mr Harris. ;-)
I don´t know if the use of a flag bearer is historically correct but it gives the scene a little eyecatcher. Zvezda normally does it´s homework well while researching Russians troops of all eras.

So thanks everyone for voting and congrats......and cheers to all participants of the competition. Let´s move to the next one.

Thomas----> :king: ( ;-) :mrgreen: :tongue: )

Congratulations Thomas! A well composed diorama. And I wouldn't worry about whether or not the flag is historically accurate. I think it really adds to the scene!
