DBA 2.2 15mm Siracusans II/9 army

Posted by blacksmith on 17 Nov 2024, 11:09

I'm back to this great forum and presenting you my latest work. Right now I'm very much at DBA in 15mm and it is the only thing I'm painting.

The miniatures are from the range March to Hell from 3D Breed, and I quite like them because they are biffy, sharp, detailed and easy to paint. I have painted them with diluted paints but I feel they would be easier to paint with contrasts given the detail in them.

There two minor complains about them though: they come without bases so glueing horses' narrow hooves to a base in quite tricky in 15mm; and also some figures are not too historic, but overall they are great as you can see below.

Siracusan II/9: 1x3Cv o 4Sp (Gen), 6x4Sp, 1x4Sp o 3Wb, 1x4Ax o 3Cv, 1x3/4Ax o Art, 1x2LH, 1x2Ps.

Wonderful army, Javier. As is always expected of you, the figures are superbly painted, even at this small scale. I especially admire the drawings of the shields, which I have no doubt are hand-painted, right? And the base with the ships is also very striking.

Phil, I presume the only true scale you are referring to is 1/72, correct? Having painted figures in various scales, from 2 to 54mm, for me also the ideal scale is 20mm...or at least that's what I have thought for the last 20 years, I don't know if I will change my mind in the future.

Phil, I wondered about doing it in 1/72, but nobody would play it with me as nobody does 1/72 where I live. Besides, I want to go to tournaments and they are always on 15mm. ;-)

Shields come with figures and motives printed on them and I just have to add paint. They are very easy and fast to paint.
