Now we can see why you have been away for so long. No better excuse than a ton of newly acquired figures to be painted.
And boy are these chaps a novelty ….. haven’t seen
either the Engineers or the Mounted Guard Grenadiers before but they are both terrific. Printed miniatures seem to be the way forward in our hobby however, yours truly still has his reservations ……but these two units are helping to raise a few doubts in his mind…
Ps/ Only thing I’m not too keen are the reins and harnesses of the horses. They look a fraction too thick to me.
PPS/Absolutely love Barclay de Tolly -

Really nice painted figures David!

I think I must have a good look at those Chintoy 1/32 figures. They seem to be really nice!

Very nice figures and superb painting Mr B.

The reins etc do look a little chunky but overall those Grenadiers look the part.

A small point but I believe the drum rim should be blue.

Well done indeed.

Best wishes ,

Chris

Much appreciated K.B. 3d printing may be the way of the future but in our scale it is fraught with dangers; roughly 1/2 of all the figures I ordered arrived with broken parts that are too small to repair even when shipped a second time still on the sprue! Those boxes take a beating at the hands of our delivery folks. Fortunately Adrian at Wargamer.us replaced everything and even threw in a few extras no charge which I thought was extraordinary service. I totally agree about the harnessing and the hands are too small. Theres also a fair number of details missing such as the valise (just a rolled blanket), no emblem on the turnbacks or cartridge box, no aiguilettes etc. Some things I had to paint in such as the eagles on the engineers which grew tiring after doing 66 freehand. I still have hussars, chasseur a cheval, lancers and engineers in cuirass to do but I need something simpler before I take those on thus the Barclay DeTolly figure. Thank you for the kind words. The Hat grenadiers a cheval I did a unit of but don't care for the figures at all; much too small and basic. The engineers somebody made in metal years ago but I've never seen them so I went for what I could get but not fully aware of the issues I would face in doing them. I'm working on a Strelets Guard band atm which is only 9 figures though I'd like a much much larger band. Someday, someone will sculpt them. I hope!

Indeed you should check out the Chintoys figures, I like them anyway and I thought they would work well in gaming by being so much larger. They're not very expensive and so far I've done DeTolly, Raevski, Schwartzenburg, Leichtenstein, Napoleon, Bessiere, Davout and a couple others I can't recall which atm. They have a wide range historically so you might find some non-napoleonic goodies you've wanted. Thanks Peter

I knew I could count on you to find what I managed to overlook Mr D. Thank you very much indeed! After making conversions so I could have a drummer and standard bearer I got lazy and rushed it. Maybe it was all those eagles fault :eh: I've contacted the sculptor to inform him of missing items and things like tiny hands and chunky harness, hopefully he will address those in the future. Thank you for the kind words and constructive criticism. I depend on this community and you in particular for your critical eye. It only helps me improve so thank you for taking the time to really look them over.

Those look fantastic, Bessiere, you have done a very nice job with them. And I agree, the HaT Grenadiers a Cheval are a bit diminutive - these fit the bill much better.
Are the 1/72 figures Chintoys as well? I will have to take a look at those. I was recently gifted some beautiful 3D figures from TayloredFigures GB, and like these, the sculpts were terrific. I confess, I'm a fan now.

I see no flags on the eagles...
Is that a correct depiction?
Great work

The 1/72 are Kozak 3d prints, Chintoys only makes 1/32scale so far as I know. Thanks Bill.

I would think every guard unit had a flag and you're right, I should probably add one.

Very nice painted units, Bessiere.
Barclay deTolly looks great too. I love to see the other 1/30's you mentioned.
3D printed figures seems to be the future but somehow they do not convince me yet.
But they seem to get better every year and your painted ones make me doubt of trying some.
Thanks for sharing and keep them coming.
