The photos below (I took today) will be the last of this Cannes film festival, unfortunately I have to move away to solve a sudden emergency situation and will not be able to cover the Film Festival anymore until the end.

I also have made some work for my work in progress but will show it when I will have time !
Thank you for watching.

This is the end of the hot summer, time for an update ! :-D
Some few progress on my St Basil Cathedral with plexiglass and white PVC, and I’ve also finished the Russian artillery sets, There’s very few difference on uniforms of the line artillery and the guard artillery, mostly black boots for the guard and black shoes for the line, the rest is nearly the same (except Officers or drummers) so they mix together very well for a defensive position.

The drummer has an animal skin between him and the drum, it’s painted Vallejo 70875 brown with stains 70859 black red (unless specified, all colors are Vallejo, or Prince August, it’s the same.)

Drummer of the guard has shoulder pads Red/gold while it’s green/white for the line, the ornaments on the sleeves are gold for the guard and white for the line.

When I’m painting a red or gold color I always paint the details in white first before the red or gold layer. I’m always painting the gold with Laiton 70801

Officers : red 70909/gold shoulder pads, buttons and chest plate in gold.

backpack harness in white +underlined with a thin black line
Waist scarf : white +silver 70997 wash and stripes in Bronze 70998

Rolled coat : London grey 70836 with a drybrush pale grey 70990

Drums :
Laiton 70801. White stripe with 70970 green serration. Cords : 70875 brown beige. Drumsticks 70984 flat brown with Laiton. Membrane : white base + a wash 70876 brown sand + 2 black wash.

Sword and bayonet scabbard : 70876 brown sand (black for officers) and Laiton.
Hilt sword : Laiton 70801 with a silver/white ribbon (Silver wash on white).
Cartridge pouch : black with gold insignia. Water bottle : 70864 Natural steel with white harness.

Bucket : 70875 beige brown + black wash and drybrush, ring around : 70864 natural steel. Tools : 70984 flat brown for wood parts and natural steel for metal. Cords 70875 beige brown with wash and drybrush. Ammos : 70837 pale sand.

For painting faces, see my previous work on others figures, it doesn’t change.

Horses :

Black brown base (Tamiya XF10 base with airbrush)
Drybrush 70872 chocolate
Legs, tail, mane, and eyes : black
White stain on the nose or legs
Hoof : 70987 medium grey

Drybrush 70875 beige brown
Legs, tail, mane, and eyes : black and drybrush
White stain on the nose

Good to see you back ADM. Once again I find myself in awe of your mastery of architectural details. I can also see a big improvement in your figure painting since this project began. You really have those eyes down. Well done sir.

My goodness, I'm blown away with the outcome of these figures! What a hell of a job you did. And it all looks fantastic!

Can't wait to see the next step in this project! :yeah:

And using 70801 brass as gold. Must give that a try sometimes. ;-)

ADM uses the same Valejo color I do. It covers far better than any gold paint I've tried and is darker which gives it a weathered look in my opinion. You can always come back and add highlights using regular gold 70.996.

That's the gold I always use. If I would like it weathered I use some mud or sepia wash. I don't use that many Vallejo paints but these I do use because they give the best covering. And I'm always pleased with some good tips and suggestions! Thanks David! :yeah:

Thank you everybody ! :-D

More work on this project, there's so much details on the cathedral that it take a very big amount of time for each step ! but I'm happy with the progress. Still using plexiglass and white PVC, not to forget Evergreen profiles, I've also tested another brand (AK) but sometime the size of the profile (half rod) slightly change from one end to the other, it can be used but it's less accurate than Evergreen who is still the best. The paper model of the Cathedral have some small issues when compared to the real one, but I can identifiy mistakes and correct them with photos, althought all the angles and corners are not covered with my photos collected on internet, because I've never been to Russia and this is for sure not the time to visit it ! Anyway I can do with what I have.

The next set of figures in my painting list is Napoleon with his headquarter and the old Imperial guard, including a music band, I've got two figures to represent napoleon, one in a specific pose for the battle of Borodino sitting with one foot on a drum, and another more generic on his horse, for any other situation. There's 186 figures (57 for the headquarter with many personalities) and 22 horses. (Italeri, Zvezda and Strelets)

I wish to everybody a merry Christmas and happy new year 2024 !

Your patience and perseverance, not to mention engineering skills to create this are off the scale.

The finished result will no doubt be magnificent.

Compliments of the season..
