Mounted Grenadier of the Guard ref Hat 8013

Posted by raph86 on 08 Apr 2023, 18:34

Hello,
These ones I had on the shelf in front of my eyes for some time so a quick scribble and here they are.
Figure that I found nice to paint but not to prepare because a lot of moulding lines to remove. Anyway I painted a bunch of four just for fun because I love Grenadiers uniforms.....

They look wonderful Raph. I love the figures too, I only wish they were a trifle larger (and imposing). Good to see you back and painting. I know work has been difficult so this means you had some time off to recharge. Happy Easter to you my friend.
Cheers,

Let's just say that an unplanned benign surgery is going to keep me at home until the end of the month so I'm taking care of myself as best I can and after a difficult first week of convalescence because of the pain it's getting better every day. I have a few more finished figures to show. Thanks for the kind words.

You may be suffering from Bessiere syndrome. Can only be overcome though use of a camera it seems. Don't feel bad, pain meds dull the mind which explains my stupidity so I know whereof I speak. I painted grenades on mine not relying on very good sources to use as guides. I hope you enjoy your downtime and have a smooth recovery.
Cheers,

I had these on my to paint shelf forever as well, until I chopped them up and made them into something else! The fate of all sets that languish too long in my cupboard. :winky:
But yours look very nice - I find black horses so unsatisfying to paint, don’t you? Glad to hear that you are convalescing well.

I have to admit that I haven't made much effort on the horses' coat, just a brushing of dark grey, but as I have to bring out the white to make the crowns, I'll probably do some stains on the horses to diversify them a bit.

You have achieved a wonderful result on that fantastic Hät set, Pascal. It has always been one of my favourite ones, though I have them on the long waiting queue of figures to be painted.

Great work!

And best wishes for that surgery and the convalescence afterwards. ;-)

Santi.

This was one of my favorite 1/72 Napoleonic sets. You did great paint job.

Very nicely painted figs.
They are particularly impressive in a group.
And I wish you a speedy recovery.

Classic French Napoleonic cavalry painted classically! I remember seeing these figures painted by Francesco Messori (now better known as Franznap) many moons ago on the Hat website.
