Hät El Cid Spanish Command

Posted by blacksmith on 12 Apr 2023, 13:45

There are two miniatures in this set, the commander on horse and on foot and another one that can be used either as musician or a standard bearer, also on horse and on foot.

I wanted this set because I could use the same character mounted and dismountedt for my skirmish adventurers. Actually, I used the standard bearer on foot as another version of the commander but dressed for any social event and not for war.

Picture a bit out of focus :(

Here I replaced the standard for a Gripping Beast 28mm Late Roman infantry spear.

As I said, I'm using these two as the same character, being the one on the right "chilling out".

Again, some very nice painting, Blacksmith. I love your colour schemes, they are colourful yet harmonious, and I find your cloth treatment very good. Well done!

Thank you Bill, clothes are painted with Xpress from Vallejo, they give a nice texture to clothes I think.

You have made a great paintjob on these figures too, Javier. They make an excellent companion to the previous heavy infantry. :notworthy:  :notworthy:

I also got this set some years ago, but never have tried to paint it. Your figures provide a fantastic inspiration. ;-)

Santi.

Nice figures and great painting !! I do observe that the 28mm spear is a bit on the large side though...?

Yes it is. It's too thick as it's for 28mm and it's a bit large as well because I was thinking of a lance.

You're right Peter. Actually, I thought about that but I couldn't find anything similar so I just disregarded it and kept on painting.
