Congratulations on this post. Love your figures, painting, placement, photography, basing and can't wait to see it all come together. Like everyone i think your basing is brilliant but if i may add a little constructive criticism it might be that some of the stones are too smooth. To the best of my knowledge generally it's the effect of water caressing rocks and stones for long periods of time that causes them to be smooth and rounded. I think for a dry desert scene like this more angular, rugged, sharper stones would be more appropriate.

Ps/ The cracked dry riverbed deserves a special mention. Fabulous.

Hi, thank you for the feedback. I did remove some of the round stones and added some more ragged ones.
In the dried stream I kept the round ones though.

I used crackled earth from AK. Its a terrain paste

It took really a long time to position all the figures on the base, but finally its done.
Next will be some more changes to the terrain like adding more plants, missed arrows and pilums and battlefield stuff.
The light was't great when I took these pictures, but at least I got some update ^^

Indeed it really is a wonderful little display of a Roman v Parthian battleground; My only little criticism here might be the very casual looking mounted Roman general. If i were him I'd definitely have my helmet on and would not have a scroll in my hand but rather a sword and shield.

You have achieved a masterpiece, dombom. The first thing that strikes the eye is the large number of figures so well painted arranged on the base.

I love especially the Roman testudo trying to resist the Parthian cavalry charge in one half of the diorama, as well as the confrontation between both cavalry forces in the other half.

Yeah, I have been thinking about to exclude the general on horse. But I thought it would be a pity, cuz its unlickely that I do another roman diorama and if I would do, it woul be a different period. Either early republic or roman empire.
But what I could do indeed, is to replace the scroll with a sword and put a helmet on. That will take just a day or two to do so with some green stuff.

Another tiny update: I added some more details, such as missed arrows and pilums.
Another roman rider hit by an arrow is coming soon and the last thing to add would be probably a pilum hit parthian rider. The roman general update is still missing as well(adding helmet and sword).
Unfurtonately, the last 4 weeks I spend mainly abroad for work and had only 5 days to do something on this project and I will be on my way for 3 weeks again. So next update will take another 4-5 weeks.
