Rarest 1/72nd figure sets

Posted by elegantmess on 10 Oct 2022, 05:49

Thank you. I recently picked up a set from their website. It seems like they're clearing out the fantasy sets.
The set I got came in several different shades of grey plastic and their were no shields included for the 2 figures with a nut on their wrist. I was excited to find them.

Yes, RSDean, I'm afraid they are shipped directly from Taiwan, so there is some risk that they never arrive. In fact, that happened to me a couple of years ago with the last direct order I made to them, it never reached its destination. :(

The same thing happened to me, elegantmess, but I received my set in 2017, so it doesn't seem to be a recent problem.

I decided to take a chance, so an order was placed. I hope that it arrives someday …

RSDean,
Mine made it recently, so there's hope. I received an email when it was shipped and a link to the shipping service, which was semi-useful.

Years ago I would buy Campell HO scale buildings wherever I could find them (usually at the annual West Springfield, MA train expo). I opened the boxes, made templates from the instructions and made my wooden buildings from them. I have my buildings and still have the original contents of the boxes. Got my cake and ate it too!!!

Can a 3-D printer do the same thing with figures?

Recently a German team made a very nice and affordable 3d scanner more or less aimed at wargamers. I've seen some great results of scanned old metal figures, and plan to get one for myself for Christmas. I have some fun plans like scanning the Revell winter US BAR gunner and make it to 28mm or bigger as it's my absolute favourite historical figure, but I have some other stuff that might worth saving for the future too (like the 2nd type Airfix commandos which I somehow managed to get two boxes of...)

That would certainly be a dream come true. Get a 1/32 figure, scan it, and print it on 1/72. The possibilities are endless!

Just to finish this, my package of Elf 2 sets (and a Journey to the West Chinese literature set) arrived last week while I was away on a business trip. So, all is well, and my elf army for my solo fantasy campaign is about to get some new recruits…

I did not wish to celebrate until they actually arrived, but I received a package from England (and eBay) with the four sprues that are unique to the Medieval Britain set today. I think that I will build a camp for my DBA medieval/fantasy armies now, although some of the figures were intended as RPG characters in my collection.

Some time ago I shot them on ebay as well for a reasonable price. I was so happy. I have the Medival Britains Boxas well but I would like to keep it in mind conditions.

Yes, I can understand that. With the box and other sprues already gone, I do not feel bad about using the figures. :D
