3D printed models and figures are becoming increasingly widespread with every day, and these often have the advantage of requiring very little assembly – if any at all. This is not a passing fashion, but a consolidating trend.
However, not everyone has a 3D printer at home, or is willing to devote the effort required to their use and maintainance. Here’s why we at Minairons miniatures have taken the somewhat risky decision to boost some of our ranges by joining forces with some 3D creators through Patreon, rather than trying to compete the trend with conventional multi-part products.
Our first such product is this ubiquitous 1:144 scale Nieuport 52 fighter, re-scaled from a design by Plane Printer, who's doing 20th century aircraft models compatible with BRS (so originally pre-designed to 1:200 scale).
Only time will tell if we got the diagnosis right, so as to even go deeper into the experience with new WWII and Interwar aircraft models – or if otherwise it was the mistake of my life! As an old Catalan saying says, «qui no arrisca, no pisca» (=who dares not, does not fish).
