Work in Progress

WW2 Tiger II and Sdkfz 251

Posted by dombom on 09 Dec 2021, 10:37

It has been some time since the last update. I was working on two other projects in parallel and had also some personal stuff going on, so almost no progress here.
Now I went back to business, but unfortunately couldn't find any figures that suited me.
What I want are nicely sculptured figures, which arn't engaged in combat, but waiting for it to come and therefore in alert.
Biggest problem is, that there arn't too many winter uniform soldiers available. Sure there are, but either they arn't too nice onces or in direct combat. The Zvezda ones are nice, but they use the grey greatcoat, which was still in use at the late war times, but not as popular as the newer winter parka.
So I decided to do my own winter soldiers, which is some additional work, but I hope it gives me my desired results:

I gonna put them in trenshes, but not sure yet which of these I will use in the end, cuz some of them are in too much action.

Very interesting conversions. What is the origin of the grey figs you used as a base for the add ons. For me they look like AB Figs.

You are right, they are AB figures. I really do like the AB ones. Nice sculpting and details. Some of them seem a bit large though.

here haven't been much of process during the last weeks, how ever I finally got the time (do to covid quarantine), to do a little bit on this project.
So I took my heavy Zvezda machine gun and changed the uniform to a more late war western style.
The great coat seemed not correct for me, so I added a winter parker on the top half of the soldiers.
The lower part won't be visible later on, doe to the bunker they will be sitting in and even if, it was not uncommon to wear the great coat below a winter parker.

Hi Dominik
Nice to see something from you again. Your figures look very good. Great idea with the winter parka. I've also finished painting the figures, but with a coat and snow. I'm curious how things will go further.

Its going somewhere. Overall base is prepared, entranchements and vehicles are placed, thick snow has been applied.

Very nice although I would have expected the position to have snow heaped on it for concealment.

The Germans were very adept at hiding their positions for defence .

The snow looks very effective.

Best wishes,

Chris

Of course, I'm on it. It's only a rough sketch so far.
