The size of the figures, the amazing detailed painting ...

You really know how to handle the paint and a brush for such tiny figures.

Am I impressed?
No, more of that.

Very very nice figures, and excellent paint job on the shield. I particularly like the white bull on black background, a real piece of art!

Real nice work!

Why don't you call it a small temple, where they can leave small gifts for the Gods before the warriors go to war! ;-)

This week I finished the final stand of Spartans and got the basing material down.

Image

I also wanted to do a couple olive trees, and after looking at photos I decided natural tree roots would capture the look pretty well. I came across this fallen tree on my Sunday hike, harvested a few roots, and got started of the grove.

There's still a lot of work to do!

Beautiful olive trees and a reminder that there's fun supplies to be found just about anywhere!

Splendid painting on these figures, I love the little points of colour about the clothing, it creates real interest.

The shield painting is excellent, the 3D effect on the bull and Pegasus is uncannily good.

Kalimera !

Your troops are a delight and those shields are wonderful.

The scenery looks very Greek to me as a lover of Crete and all things Greek I think that you have captured the ‘feel’ very well.

Using the roots of trees is a great way of model lining them as the thin roots make an excellent support for the foliage.

Best wishes,

Yassas,

Chris

I finished painting the last Corinthians this weekend.

I tried a few simple conversions, such as giving this guy a Kopis.

I also repositions the spear arms of a few of the "at attention" poses. Just a little twist with pliers and they can make some underarm thrusts.

Finally, I got started on my last planned hoplite unit: the Boeotians.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers :-D

Here's a little update. I finished painting the Corinthians, and also the Boeotians. These are my last two planned units of city state hoplites. I have a few peltasts to finish, but the Greeks are mostly wrapped up aside from basing.

Next I am doing a couple of Scythian cavalry units. These can either be mercenaries, or will eventually fight Persians and Thracians that I have yet to buy and paint.

Beautiful painted figures. And the phalanx looks impressive when based. Is the fact that you not glue the figs in the middle, which resulted in a further edge, due to rules or a question of taste?

Thank you both.
The basing is just a matter of taste. I feel like each unit is somehow more special when gathered in the middle of the scene.

Plus I didn't want to purchase additional small bases.
