Intro from a bronze age modeller

Posted by Howlin on 13 Mar 2021, 12:02

Hello, this is my first post in joining a 1/72 community.

I painted my first accurate sets of French and British knights in high school some 22-23 years ago I got at a local hobby shop. At the time I had dreamed of making it like a game of chess spaced out on the grid of a cutting mat. Well not long after I went to college and life put all that to the way side, while not knowing how the 1/72 world was coming to life... Now some years later am returning to those dreams of my inner child but in a grander version than I had ever thought of.
I thought I was going to go medieval at first, but soon fell for the ancient ages and ship warfare.

So I have built a collection of Triremes and biremes and some merchant ships built from the scraps.

I was going to post a bunch of pictures of some works but apparently need to find a image hosting service.

Well I hope to share some more soon.

Thank you

Welcome and hello! I'm new here too and it's a friendly place from what I've seen.

I've been postimages for things that I've put here, I know imgur can work too.

Those ships sound amazing, I hope you can share them soon!

To the individual artist belongs the artistic licence to do their very own thing in his or her hobby-style work.Welcome to the Forum Jacob, and your ancient boat looks real cool. BB

You'll find some ancients masters in this group, so you've come to the right place.

The ancients masters do not include myself.

I thought I was going to go with medieval themes but soon ended up getting drawn to the ancient bronze age. i really like the style of garb and armor from that time.

I really need to study up on some proper paint techniques because so far what I am doing for flesh tones and metals is sub par. I basically paint with artist acrylics red, blue, yellow, white, and black and mix in plastic food tubs. and then use tamiya metallics.
