Hello to everyone

I've been amazed (not to say humbled) at the skill of the contributors to this site. Having enjoyed viewing the contributions here as a guest I thought I ought to 'sign up'.

My name is Mark and I live in Leicester, England. I was always interested in military history as a boy (I'm now in my late 30s) and especially the Waterloo / Napoleonic era. This led to something of a modest collection of 1/72 figures but I considered at the time that attempting to paint them was far beyond my limited skills and patience!

Then, a few years ago I found some Prince August casting moulds for 25mm Napoleonic Prussians hidden in a loft and thought I'd have a go at casting and painting these metal figures. I had little knowledge and did even less research but after a couple of years of occasional work on these I perhaps began to improve a 'little' bit. The range and quality of the figures available now is impressive and I decided on finally having a go at the smaller 1/72 plastics of my youth. Unfinished business, you might say. At the beginning of this year, I purchased some Hat sets, more paints, etc and have taken it from there, doing a bit of Internet research along the way.

I haven't done any wargaming or dioramas and am very much a developing novice just doing it whenever spare time permits. I find the activity is a great excuse to get away from television or computer screens and a chance to indulge a childhood passion.

I look forward to seeing more great work on this site in the future. Who knows, I might even submit my own tentative efforts!

Best wishes

Mark

Hi there,

I'm Thomas and come from Germany. Paul Bods gave me the advise so visit this forum, because I also paint 1/72 miniatures. I'm a wargamer and am currently occupied with later hoplite Greeks and some World War II. armies (Germans, Russians and Italians).

At the moment I'm 25 years old and hopefully become a Master of Arts in history and political science. My main field of interest is the antiquity, especially the era of hellenism. I do wargames since 2002 and have therefore some experience in painting and scenery building. I also have a blog (you can find the link below, in my signature).

Hi everyone,

My name is Izzy from Malaysia. I just started this hobby. I register to this forum to get advise and tips. I am not a wargamer or a collector, I just want to paint my son's toy soldier.

I am a 35 yr old father of 3 kids and work as a IT engineer. I leave in a suburb, where the nearest hobby shop is 100 kms away. Eventhough I am a IT guy, I dont buy things online. As we only have 1 Hobby shop within the 300 km radius, so I tend to support the shop.

Anyway, I do 1/35 WW2 tanks as well.

Nice meeting u guys here in the forum.

Hi there!

I just wanted to introduce myself. First, be patient with me and my English because I am from Germany.

My name is Marcus, I am 35 years old and had a wonderful childhood with 28mm figures. This year I´ve been diagnosed with a very serious disease and can not work anymore. To relax my mind and have something creative to do I started painting 28mm figures - not very good, though but I am learning. It is really something to take my mind of my sickness and makes me feel good.

I am married, have a daughter of 3 years and live in south-eastern Bavaria.

I am looking forward to see your work guys and learn from it.

Hi i'm Mike, I live in the Manchester area of England and I have recently discovered the joys of 1:72 - moving away from 28mm wargaming to concentrate on 1:72 scale modeling and Battlegroup Kursk.
It is nice to see a forum with a high number of under 30s with a love of things other than the dreaded Warhammer

Hi, my name's Deon, 44yrs from Worthing in Sussex, UK. I've been building models and painting figures since I was three. I started wargaming at 8 yrs old and have built up a great mountain of painted and unpainted figures. My ambition is to sell as much as I can and paint the rest before I die :). I work on every period from prehistory to sci-fi, flats and every major scale from 2mm to 120mm. Despite the many years, I lack any artistic talent so I am hoping to improve my technique by copying the many fine painters here.
Cheers

Hello all, nice forum here! I've been browsing the galleries and lurking for the past few weeks.

I'm from England, I've been collecting 1/72 figures since I was 4 years old, my first two sets were the Revell French Knights and English Foot Soldiers, from there my collection took off and stopped when I turned 15.

I've recently dug out my old sets, boxes and figures and spent about a week sorting them all out (still unfinished) I'll be posting a list of my collection here at some point.

I plan on painting up and selling everything I have and possibly buying new sets to paint up and sell seeing as I'm rather getting into the hobby again :P I'm 22 now and still love them!

Hi everyone,

Let me introduce my self, my name is Pedro and I live in Valongo a small town on the North of Portugal, I'am 36 years old en married to my lovely wife Ana and 2 cats my little helpers when modelling, not! i work for a telecommunications company.

This year I made a return after a long absence, upon the usual stuff of life school, work, marriage, and so on, but that didn't prevented me from buying models and figures

So I started to look around all of my stash and realized that 1st what i really love the most is boots on the ground (maybe it as something to do with my children years where i made thousand of battles in the garden of my parents house :love3:) 2ndi have lot of models that i don't need so i decide to sell all, well almost all, of my 1/72 tanks, vehicles, planes etc you can see my stash on the marketplace.

And I discovered this amazing site from figures lovers, that sounded too bad? And will start to assemble and paint my soldiers with the great help from all of you.

My area of interest is manly WW2, but i also like Vietnam and modern times, so i wish good panting to us all!!

Hello everybody. After lurking in the forum for some months, I finally decided to register, as I found this forum really interesting and with a great atmosphere, and full of great painters of modellers. I hope to contribute at least a bit.

My name is Rodrigo, I'm from Zaragoza (Spain), and have been messing with miniatures since, ... bufff a very long time, painting them for around 25 years, though never get to a really good level, and recently I've got back to 1/72 minis. I like medieval minis and WWII, specially every kind of artillery I can get my hands on (seems lgical, consedring I'm a gunner).

Hello,

My name is Peter and I live in Canada. I am 50+ yrs old but my friends say I still look young for my age :-)
I collected a lot of Airfix figures whan I was a teenager - they were practically the only plastic soldiers available to me at the time. Then I sold 95% of them to a friend and only held onto a couple sets. I now realize how much some of these fetch on Ebay so I'm glad I held onto my Airfix 1/32 French Infantry & Grenadiers!
I didn't think I would ever get back into collecting figures again until last year. I've always had an interest in military history but was never a dedicated wargamer. Mostly D&D and such back in the day..
I've had a real interest in the battle of Waterloo and Napoleonic subjects so I started reading a lot of articles/blogs etc in the last couple of years. Finally got around to watching the Sharpe series as well.
Then I stumbled upon the PSR site and that was it for me - once I saw the Zvezda and Italeri Napoleonics I started collecting again. I initially thought I would just buy a few sets here and there but well it kinda snowballed, partly due to there being so many excellent looking figures on the market now. I'm sure some of you can relate! ;-)
I hope to paint some of the sets I've acquired - I've never painted a miniature in my life up to this point, but just browsing throught this site I think I've come to the right place.
Periods that I'm most interested in are Napoleonic, Medieval, ACW and the Crimean War with a bit of the Colonila/Imperialism thrown in.
Might even get into wargamimg at some point as well.

Hello to all, I am an avid collector of 1/72 figurines, and although I wanted to register many times in this forum I never found the occasion (I think I registered once but lost the password). Anyway, I hope to share my figurine knowledge and questions with all of you and have a good time in this forum.

Hi,
I'm Mabbers, and I have only been into painting figures for about a year when I started to paint my sons 1/32 Airfix and found it great fun and very relaxing. I have moved on to 1/72 scale and smaller brushes! I mostly like ancients, medieval and fantasy but I also do a bit of WW2 as well.
Enjoy checking out the forums for painting tips, I am getting better but have a lot to learn!
