Swiss Guard cartoon figure

Posted by Santi Pérez on 12 Jan 2020, 18:49

At this point I guess nobody has any doubt about my admiration for the Swiss Vatican Guard. :-D

The other day I found at home this souvenir figure (made in China, of course) purchased on my last visit to Rome, some years ago. It's about 40mm high without the base. As it can be seen, it's an authentic cartoon figure.

I think I will paint it as I continue with my current project of the 1/72 Swiss Guard, Pope and Cardinals diorama, trying to get a better finish than the original one. ;-)

I hope to finish this new project before the main one (although it will also go at a slow pace) as a funny adittion to my Swiss Guard collection.

Thanks for watching. :yeah:

I'll try to keep the same funny smile in the final figure, Wiking. ;-)

Well, I can understand the minimum effort of the original painter if he only receives 0.01 Euros, Dollars, Yuans, Yens or any type of currency for his work, Marvin and Kekso. I hope to get a better result than him :winky: .

For now, I've only got the primed figure, Peter, these are the pictures.

Size comparison with an Euro coin and with a 1/72 Caesar serious and formal figure:

And views of the figure from four different angles:

Thank you for your support, mates. :-)

Thank you for the inspiration, Peter, not a bad idea to paint an euro coin ever. .

The reverse would look good with European countries painted in different colors, but it would be more difficult to choose the most striking obverse. I wouldn't choose human faces (like those of the heads of state of Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands or Luxembourg, nor Mozart), but some like the man of Vitruvio or the Athena's owl would be fine. ;-)

Best regards.
