Vlaai for FIGZ

Posted by Dad's Army on 29 May 2022, 16:35

Well like most of you know, we have our forum event FIGZ next week again.
And my good friend Peter always brings vlaai to it, and I wondering why.
So I did some research and found out why, it's simple a beautiful lady who makes vlaai.
Here she is:

Hahaha, well it was a nice figure to paint, 28 mm it is.
I tried to give the cat a Aristocat look , and the lady a colorful outfit.
She was fun painting, that's for sure!

She's beautiful!

And she can bake!

Very nice figure and a lovely colourful paint job, I really like the polka dot oven gloves. My illusions are shattered though, I thought Peter baked the vlaai.

Enjoy your Vlaai and nice figures.
I'm a bit jealous but also happy you will meet again.

Beautifully painted figure, Remco. :yeah:

Unfortunately, it seems quite uncertain whether I will make it to this year's finally returning Figs.
The Missus has ordered a radical & complete renovation of the house and the current circumstances are not ideal. :stressed:

Instead, and out of solidarity with the Figs participants, we will probably enjoy a similar speciality of the 3-country corner D-B-NL from afar next weekend. ;-)

Riißvlaam or Riesflam in local dialect (Rijstevlaai in dutch/flemish, sweet rice pie in english ...)

Have fun guys!

Why has no one ever mentioned vlaai before?

If I had known I would surely have sought out such wondrous dishes, just to sample them.

Actually -vflaam and -flam sound like our English 'flan', which is a similar of dish, so maybe I am not that deprived.

No one? It is well known fact that there's Vlaai+Peter at FIGZ.
We all make jokes for years about that :xd:

Sadly I have never been to Figs, so have missed all the humour.

Me neither. Jokes were told here on forum a lot. ;-)
But I'm not blaming you for not knowing, just explaining :-D

It's not clear to me. Is this figure a representation of Peter's wife? Or is he the one who cooks the vlaai himself?

Great paintjob on this cheerful figure, Remco.

Excellent work my friend! See you tomorrow with some more vlaai!

It all started with a simple nameplate, somewhere hidden on this forum. It was a swap! Remco would make me my personal (VIP) badge and I would a "vlaai" with me! First time was at Kampen!

The Vlaai was really tasty again! And now I will constantly thinking about the brownhaired lady, while eating it in the future. Nice paintjob, my friend!
