The Sons Of The Sun

Posted by Konrad on 05 May 2023, 12:01

Montezuma, King of the Aztecs with a jaguar warrior and an eagle warrior.
The Aztec warrior elite.

To become a jaguar warrior, a member of the Aztec army had to capture a total of four enemies from battles. This was said to honor their gods in a way far greater than killing enemy soldiers in the battlefield. For a warrior to kill an enemy was considered clumsy.

Eagle warriors or eagle knights were a special class of infantry soldier in the Aztec army, one of the two leading military special forces orders in Aztec society, the other being the Jaguar warriors.
These military orders were made up of the bravest soldiers of noble birth and those who had taken the greatest number of prisoners in battle. Of all of the Aztec warriors, they were the most feared.

I think you have nailed it again. These guys look amazing and the skin color seems very convincing to me.

Very nice Konrad. You captured the look of a very unique culture; easy to use the wrong colors or motifs. Best novel I ever read was "Aztec" by Gary Jennings, a historical novel set during the Spanish conquest. I enjoyed it as much as Lord of The Rings and Dune anyway.

Awesome work. Very colorful, just the way it should be.
And that leopard skin pattern in this scale is amazing

Ah, there's an international food festival here right now. Is he driving the icecream-van?

Yes the rosettes on the leopard skin are fantastically executed. Three hundred odd years later they were appearing on Nappie saddles...
