WW2 1/35 minis and tanks!

In high school in the late 90's to 2001 I made lots of modern tank models and was really into WW2 as well... I thought I wanted to be a tank commander and follow the footsteps of some of my family in service. I never took that route though, went more like a hippy and gladly so, they are not as glamorous and much more loud than I can handle. Most of my models were lost in a move so this is the little left.

These are my ww2 minis made. The painting is pretty good but needs some washes and refinement. Some vehicles need repair, some parts are missing, some weapons have tips broken off one guy needs a helmet/ half his head, some still saved in a bag, some intentionally made to look destroyed almost ready to be a war game but I am not really into the period anymore, I am open to sell them but have no idea if I have any value here.

Nice childhood and youth memories. I started into the hobby with 1/35 tanks and soldiers. My mother hated this "war toys" and there were always discussions about modellers gloryfying war and so on. As you can imagine, in Germany our relationship to WW2 and Wehrmacht is complicated.....but my Mom had no problems with Romans, Knights and Vikings, slaughtering each other (too long ago in history perhaps).....so this part of the hobby became more important for me....and yes, it´s still true. If you go to an exhibition and show WW2 tanks and troops, people sometimes look at you in a non empathic way, but if you are showing a nice castle siege (even if they throw enemy heads over the wall with catapults), people find it cute....strange world.

In my childhood and youth there were three shops around which stored a good variety of what was available....Tamiya, Italeri, Revell, Esci, Airfix. Even in small supermarkets like Edeka you could buy Matchbox and Airfix Models from time to time. When we are getting older, we search our lofts for this old stuff. I still like it.

yes it is weird sometimes and also why I never gravitated towards modern warfare video games.

But castle violence seems to be honoring history instead of violence? we are a strange species. I myself am a very peaceful person, do not like war at all, but yet love strategy and military tactics of ancient times.

which is also why I am ok with seeing this set go to someone who is more into WW2

total oxymoron is my life.

And yes I still have some old matchbox models that my father bought for me. The condition not so well in some cases. And my old Airfix figures of course. they never left me!
