The last farewell

Posted by Susofrick on 30 Mar 2021, 08:28

Ooops, I'm out! :-D Bought these Mithril-figures from Pascal a while ago. Very nice purchase and I am quite fond of Mithril. I painted Aragorn only with washes so he is quite pale. This was a while ago so I thought Halloween could be a good theme. But his horse looked normal .... I gave it orange eyes and nostrils so it could look a little demonish. It didn't show in the picture, just as well. The dogs are from Torsten (Stenfalk). I think he is one of the best animal-sculptors. The scenery is from Thomarillion and the base is a never-finished field. For a very long time I called it Auld Lang Syne, but in the last minute I changed the title. Three scales in one pic, Aragorn, Arwen and horse 32 mm, scenery 28 mm, and dogs 1/72. :-D It was great fun as usual and good job, Peter!!!

I really liked this entry! I always conceived of Arwen as dark-haired due to her line. That was before 2000, of course.

How clever that the dogs are in a different scale but look bigger because they are in the foreground. I never noticed until you wrote about it.

One of my favourite entries this time around. A really lovely scene which I thought had a similar feel to your silver brush winning entry a while back. As Chris said, a touching atmosphere.

Terrific painting, very nice highlighting on the two central figures, and good composition. It's interesting to hear about the three different scales because everything looks to be in harmony.

Great to see an appearance from Torsten's excellent wolf hounds.

Such a lot of character, and I like the dogs perhaps most of all. Well, I am a dog person.
