Thanks Misteredd. Some good-looking figures here, and despite some flash evident in these mouldings this is definitely a set worth looking at more closely.

Yes but generally speaking, the UR sets become worse in quality, I think. Compared with their early Medival sets for example.

I have to agree with Jan here.
The quality has dropped significantly.

I do not think so - putting the Iberians that I got into comparison. Those do have some flash - ok. But they are well researched and I think well sculpted. Those antics do not have those very details of middleages warriors.

Not too impressed by these, to be honest. Yes, maybe they will look a lot better when the flash is removed, but there is a lot of it and the sprue counts to the quality of figures. But thanks for sharing, anyway!

Ukrainians are some of the smartest people around, they can adapt to everything, as we can see every day. If they want, this set could have been a lot better, I think. MABO´s comparison shows, that there is not only a problem with the sprue, but with propotions, poses etc., which is in the sculptor´s responsibility.

I have to say that I do agree, and in fact just today I have taken delivery of two sets of Ultima Ratio medieval Swiss infantry, which are generally very good....fine sculpting and definition, a good mould and also quite a bit cheaper from my supplier source than the new ancient sets will be.

However, I am also sympathetic to a view that any new 1/72 figures which are half-decent and coming from the Ukraine right now are worth supporting. This being so, although I cannot see myself buying large numbers of these Ultima Ratio ancient figures, I might buy a token single set of the Carthaginians at least.

well I have some mixed feelings of this, first reaction was that they look incredibly flat, even with extra shield and arm pieces. Yet I think there is find detail and definition here that can paint real nicely. I have found this in the case of some of peoples MARS figures that from pictures of plastic I am not impressed, but seeing them trimmed and painted look characterful and delightful.

here I see the makings of similar traits that may look real nice if carefully trimmed and painted... which is a substantial amount of work as I likely would only want 1 of each pose. I have their medieval siege artillery and they hold up nicely to other top brands. Its not a must have but possibly an interesting addition for me though unexpected.
