Rossomme Farmhouse

Rossome Farmhouse at Waterloo is not well known for two reasons: first, it burnt down and is now completely eradicated with no trace of the building unless and until someone does some archaeology. Secondly, it was a long way behind the front line. And yet it is important to the Waterloo story because it was here that Napoleon spent most of the day, or at least on the heights of Rossomme immediately to the east from where he could see both the British position and Plancenoit.

My diorama shows the battle at 1800hrs, by which time Napoleon had moved forward to La Belle Alliance. The farm is therefore shown with the Imperial Rear HQ - some of the 11 carriages that Napoleon is known to have had at the battle, plus some staff, and Larrey's field hospital.

There are no known images of the farm and I am entirely reliant on some blown up pictures from the Siborne model which show the buildings in good detail.

Splendid new additions to your Waterloo battlefield and I must confess I wasn’t familiar with the Rossomme Farmhouse.
Absolutely love the two carriages inside the farm, it’s incredible how this 3D printing is revolutionizing the wargames industry.
I still prefer old school sculpted minis to be honest but that’s cos yours truly is well and truly old school himself.

Great to see the progress made on the diorama James! Liam has done some amazing work with those carriages, they're opulent as they should be. It's also gratifying to recognize your own work finding a place on the board having sent figures 3 - 4 years ago - its been a long wait. Good things take time and extensive and very complex things take even longer. Well worth it. Cheers,

Very kind of you to add those pictures James, its most gratifying to see how things look in the finished form. I know it will be overwhelming for the viewer when confronted with the massive numbers of figures but our eyes are very good at picking out points of interest to us personally so I don't think there is ever a level of "too much detail" so long as a few people get to see it. I was listening to a podcast today with Andrew ___ w/ David Brown and Niles from Little wars and he mentioned Waterloo remodelled having painted a company of French. Nice to hear random bits of publicity about your project. Thanks again for posting those pics, I will certainly treasure them.
