Regarding the old Airfix figures, it is interesting that that is your experience. My ancient 50 year old figures are as brittle as anything and snap if dropped! I wonder if it has something to do with how they are stored rather than the plastic itself?

Bill for my opinion it has something to do with storage. I also have more as 50 years old figures, and I don't have that problem. Cold and warm conditions is one of the things that can cause this problem. Mine always has been in the house in closed boxes.

Many thanks !

Great again Joan! Your updates are always outstanding in quantity and quality! The Airfix figures do hold up well considering they are so old!

I fully agree with Rich, Joan.

What fond memories it brings back to see those Bedouin Arabs from Airfix that I had such good times playing with in my childhood (both as the originals and before that with their poorer Montaplex version).

While the era holds little interest for me your figures are splendid and your Rif flag is incredible. Such precision and clean lines, superb!

Hi dykio, the gun is a Krupp from the Boer artillery set.
I thought the Riffians might have captured it from the Spanish they defeated at the Battle of Annual in 1921. I don't know if that happened but I thought a Riffian artillery base might be an exotic adition to the rebel forces.

Anyhow, this project is full of inaccuracies: the French Foreign Legion of the 1920s no longer wore blue and the Riffian rebels did not dress like the Arabs of the Middle East during the 1st World War, which is the aesthetic where Strelets has set the their figures. Nor their fight had religios roots but a war for independence from the colonial powers. Abd El-Karim was a well educated man, not a religious leader or an iletrated sheppered from the Riff mountains.

What a nice bunch of lovely painted figures.
I like the dynamic composition of the different figures on their bases.
thanks for sharing.
Patrick.

Hi...

At Sunset :-D , a supply column of Legionnaires is leaving their Sidi-Bel-Abbès headquarters and heading inland.
They carry a much needed supply of food and ammunition to some isolated post, and a couple of machine guns (Saint-Etienne and Hotchkiss) to boost their weak defenses. A mounted infantry platoon protects the precious cargo.

if you see some white spots on the bases, is the glue that is not dry yet. But I'm in a hurry and I couldn't wait any longuer ;-)

All the best!
Joan
