Thanks lads for your flattering comments. Well the last couple of days i've been basing the red and the berg lancers so felt it my duty to get a few piccies posted to show you how the finished items look.

Yikes! the first photo is very poor..... let's send it again only in a bigger format......................better!

Basically the colours for the three lancer regiments were;
Polish Lancers; Alizarin Crimson and Prussian Blue.
Red Lancers; Cadmium Reds (Purple,Deep,Medium,Light) shaded with Ivory Black, highlighted with flesh tone (Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Titanium White).
Berg Lancers; Burnt Umber added to Cadmium Yellow Deep to shade, Cadmium Yellow and Titanium White to highlight, Blue Uniform Is Indigo shaded in Ivory Black and highlighted in Titanium White.

The bases do take a wee bit of extra time but I think the result is worthwhile (see page 3 of this thread for detailed description)

Those are all brilliant. One tiny quibble: the Dutch Lancer second from left in the middle photograph has a uniform that, while accurate, is too close in color to the excellent chestnut mount you have selected for him.

Very true Bluefalchion…….. but sometimes in real life it happens!
Ps/ (and it’s also why I changed the horse next to it from a chestnut into a bay by painting the tail and mane black and adding black to the lower legs)!

Just come across this photo on photobucket which i had missed previously. It's a bit wonky but it's in focus, at least, and i like the fact that the horses have less of a sheen on them than usual..... with one exception, that is. Have switched the officer from the white steed to the chestnut and the pistol firing lancer has been given a darker galloping horse. For those of you with an eagle eye ie Bessiere, I've just realised there are a couple of missing details that i need to add.

Image

Ps/ To give you a clue let me say they will need to be painted on freehand. Am looking forward to the challenge.....

Re-reading my comments in recent posts let me apologise for my mistakes regarding the regiment in blue uniform with yellow facings…… they are Vistula lancers and not Berg Lancers (which if I am not mistaken had green uniforms with pink facings - who knows, perhaps I could add one or two of these variants in the future) !

FINALLY one of my converted Don Cossacks has made his way into battle.......here he's got himself into a light cavalry skirmish with a Red Lancer. Apparently the Red Lancers were mocked/ridiculed as being very poor opponents by the cossacks, in stark contrast with Napoleon's Polish Guard Lancers who they feared greatly.

Afraid not Susofrick........i can't get my hands on Orion figures in Brazil, unfortunately. This cossack is Zvezda with a converted head,......i chopped off his hat, built another with greenstuff, added some facial hair and voila.... a Guard Cossack is transformed into a Don Cossack!

PS/ by the way these Russian Cossacks, originally by Italeri, really were some of their poorest ever sculpts. Looking at these large blown up photos I am tempted to add an overcoat which can only be an improvement on the very vague, shallow details - especially on the front of his jacket - in these original sculpts.

A couple of French Hussars have chanced upon a trio of Don Cossacks. Never shying to seek glory on the battlefield the hussars don't hesitate to charge, catching the cossacks somewhat off guard.

Great job with the greenstuff K.B. I knew you could do it. The Franznap heads may be rather small mounted on Zvezda figures so this was your best solution. Not a flashy unit but you certainly enhanced the sculpts by your conversion.

Magnificent Huzzars (it's all incredible including the terrain but the Hussars are a favourite of mine). Bravo.

Are they 2nd Regiment?

Thank you gents for your comments which are always appreciated. These hussars are indeed from the second regiment….slowly but surely I intend to represent each of the French Hussar regiments. But as you all know painting hussars is not an easy process, (especially when there are some Russian Hussars begging to be painted first)!
