The techniques are great, I am glad to see this realized in paint. I might suggest though varying your browns, the Horses being near the same as the wood and then a dark ground base makes it look overall dark and monochromatic

Great to see this set painted. Have it in the box lying somewhere in the hobbyroom. A little dark, but the medievals lived during the dark ages ....

Its not that dark is an issue, I think these are well painted. I am just noticing all the browns are nearly the same, so maybe instead of saying dark, is lacking the variety. Even in the "dark ages" there was still lots of color, festivals, great projects etc... going on. From my understanding it got that name from not having much historical record compared to other ages and then hollywood came along to make us think everyone was dirty, poor and desperate. Well at least that has been my experience. I too need to get this one painted up someday.
