Even though my first Prussian Corps is not finished yet, (you can follow the progress here: http://bennosfiguresforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=22316)... today was still the big day:
The first Black Powder Game between Mr. Andrea and me or the French against the Prussians.
We played with two small brigades composed of all branches of arms. The table was kept simple, with a forest, fields and a small village - just what we had there.
As always, Mr. Andrea was more immersed in the rules than I was. He was always much quicker to work out the dice options and the results.
This first game was supposed to be an introduction to this new system for us. Until then, we had only played DBA. In any case, it was a lot of fun, even if we still have to learn a lot, because we still don't have everything right. In the clash of the two armies, we went straight to the point without any big manoeuvres and attacked each other pretty much head-on. My cannons kept the French centre busy, but did not seriously weaken it. However, a too rash assault has already cost me the 7th Infantry Regiment, which I had just completed.
After a few hours of studying the rules, we let the guns fall silent for the time being and adjourned for the decision. Let's see who wins the day in the end?
