First Black Powder French against Prussians

Posted by MABO on 03 Jan 2022, 22:09

Even though my first Prussian Corps is not finished yet, (you can follow the progress here: http://bennosfiguresforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=22316)... today was still the big day:

The first Black Powder Game between Mr. Andrea and me or the French against the Prussians.

We played with two small brigades composed of all branches of arms. The table was kept simple, with a forest, fields and a small village - just what we had there.

As always, Mr. Andrea was more immersed in the rules than I was. He was always much quicker to work out the dice options and the results.

This first game was supposed to be an introduction to this new system for us. Until then, we had only played DBA. In any case, it was a lot of fun, even if we still have to learn a lot, because we still don't have everything right. In the clash of the two armies, we went straight to the point without any big manoeuvres and attacked each other pretty much head-on. My cannons kept the French centre busy, but did not seriously weaken it. However, a too rash assault has already cost me the 7th Infantry Regiment, which I had just completed.

After a few hours of studying the rules, we let the guns fall silent for the time being and adjourned for the decision. Let's see who wins the day in the end? :cowboy:

there is something that one sees immediately, beyond the beauty of the figurines: friendship. The beers casually placed on the table are not for nothing in this perception! :D

A fun layout, two excellent armies, and beer? I would say you both won, no matter the particular result.

It was super-fun and it is not over yet! Also, we still have plenty of beer.
Great photos, Jan! The close-ups are fantastic!

Thanks for the compliment. My infantry has a base of 6 x 2 cm for 4 figs. The cavalry has 6 x 4 cm for 3 horsemen and the artillery has a base of 6 x 8 cm. So a line-regiment had a front of 18 cm with 12 figures and the cavalry 6 horsemen on 12 cm. Mr.Andrea has based them in another way: Every rider on a single base and two infantrymen together. But this is only our way to do it. Hope this helps.

Hi Jan,
I see you and Mr Andrea are developing their wargaming skills. Like it a lot - armies, story, basing.
Looking forward to seeing you in life again

Many greetings
Michael
