Fred.'s Triumph

Our mini-SYW campaign is going well.
So far, the biggest battle was this encounter between sizeable armies from Prussia & Austria.
We've used the Black Powder rules for a first time with Horse & Musket & are quite pleased with the result.

The battlefield. Maps were distributed prior to the game. Because of previous Prussian victories, The Austrians were made to deploy first:

There were minimal numbers of skirmish troops involved but they began the battle & were quickly depleted;

New units to the collection were used- proxies for the British:

Ultimately, the Austrians, who'd decided to defend, were subject to a double-envelopment:

A strong position meant nothing as Fred.'s troops applied pressure:

With three brigades broken, the Austrians threw caution to the winds & attacked.

But Prussian pressure extinguished their attempt:

I think this ends the Austrians' campaign for a while. The French will try their luck in future encounters.

Stirring stuff indeed Donald. Only if I reincarnate might I manage to get these many figures together on a wargames table. In particular I love the red hussars.

Apart from the 3, new "British units" (Jacobites, actually), these are all mine. I have another infantry brigade a side for both armies. Plus my French SYW army which is bigger than either of these.

Megalomania?

That is a fine looking battle. So nice to see that many figures on the board, they display beautifully!

Very impressive as always .

I used to use the Black Powder rules with my late friend Peter.

I really like the movement variable as it causes such uncertainty.

Best wishes,

Chris
