The money i save on not having to buy canopy top dressing for around 150+ trees means that will more than cover the cost of my wire, glue and my brand new Buzzing machine.

Mixed up in the old sink because BB, is rather sloppy with his paints,
because he has the shakes!
i most certainly do.


Lots of cheap Acrylic Paint, £1.00
a little dribble of washing up soap
and a table spoonful of water proof p v a glue.

I mixed the paint in one of my yogurt pots that already had water enough and foam from the buzzing.
Then i squeezed out by the handful the other stuff taken from other plastic pots and added them.
Uncanny all that i had prepared earlier without measurements went into the one pot of paint.

i put the plastic lid back on the yogurt tub and left it overnight.

and so it was that two days past by with the stuff a greening in the paint pot.
Would this unavoidable delay result in failure?
We`ll follow along down to see.

........................................ BB`s PLASTIC POPPING BUBBLE WRAP

To avoid squeezing flat the paint filled foam,
i removed it rather easily by using a dinner fork and placed it in small yogurt pots. Then the 11 filled pots i forked out again and spread the stuff out onto bubble wrap.
All that trapped air fit for popping came in a delivery so cost me nothing at all, and now my first bath will dry out quickly.
Any dribble of paint left in the yogurt pots was returned to the large size tub for further use.

Was this successful? Yes, and it has been another learning curb for myself and perhaps for others too.
i plan another batch of tree topping foam sometime over the weekend, and i will add more yellow to the acrylic paint mix in order to get a contrasting color.

plastic forks for the extra added use of

Eh! Why?

With the place filled up tight crammed in with tree`s and scattered about flock a drying everywhere BB, has gone an ordered 50 disposable forks.
The why of it all is a mystery ta Me Pards! if there is an intelligent reason for plastic forks,does it mean bb, has finally recovered his sanity? Asked the little bright eyed Button , upon reflection of the Dark Matter that lay a floating between BBs ears..
I sincerely hope not, He`s only just allowed me my Forum voice.
Yes Wing Nut, is fully awake on this white laced frosty day.

Of course i only need one ,two or perhaps even 3, but they come cheaper by the fifty.
So here we have it entered into the journal, " BB`s, gone forking mad!"
Or forking plain as the nose on his face, Sane?

......................................... CREATING OBLONG TREE BASES



Welcome to my meandering pathway of extra great messy fun.

With the armatures made it was time to plant them, so an oblong frame of Balsa Wood,was super glued together,
The edges were supported by odd castings i have about the place, and the base was cast up in two parts.



After casting up, the Kiln Dried Sand, was heaped upon it driving more sand into the surface and helping it to dry out.

The Mixture ; is One Quarter Tap Water, Waterproof P V A Glue, Plaster of Paris,and Dried Sand.
I arrived at this mixture after doing two samples.



Left over night to cure,it is solid as rock and very flat underneath and it will remain so.
3 bases are now on top of radiators getting rather well baked.
Later the base will be dressed up then the tree`s.



Above is the fourth one at the first stage of pouring. The tree`s are held in place by the weighted down brushes. It could be the case that i could have poured the stuff out and just plunked the tree`s into place,but my hands are trembling so much i prefer to methodically do it the best way that i can.Getting the task in hand done and dusted is the main thing no mater what method is applied.

Battling with P T S D daily, and being so clumsy i super glued two fingers together, yip and boy was that hot burning stuff. I applied lots of creamy soap from the bottle to the hand and eased my fingers open again. Then more creamy soap and a good rinse in cold running tap water remedied this situation.
That sure was a close call BB? It most certainly was.
You can all laugh now along with BB.

i prefer to work in the kitchen when using this SUPER X GLUE.
i remember it well, when bb, stuck his hand to the handle of the cold tap.
Eh! O', Boy and they think i`m dumb!

WARNING

If this happens to you, you only have a few seconds to free the fingers before it cures tight. Never wash in hot water it will speed up the curing time of the super x glue.

Yes,more endeavours this year .................hopefully first i can finish my tree`s for Bonniers Wood. Some will be used for other settings too.___ Well abstract tree`s are very versatile and can be placed anywhere one would like to plonk them down.



i have been painting free-hand the last of my tree`s over the holiday period. i don`t like using spray cans of paint.

i just took my time while at ease and dipped my brush in and fully enjoyed this kind of painting and dry brushing that thankfully i can still do without the need to rush. Although dry brushing is very quick, even for me who is very slow.



The splodge of colors had also begun.
It felt good to be painting the pile up of abstract trees.

The oblong bases have been progressively built up, with the trees deeply rooted in a very firm foundation, and i have certainly self taught myself how best i like to do it in a neat, but messy way. Everyone who has trees freestanding know how they like to topple over. However these are certainly well based and like determined infantry, each and every one of them will stand.



These will do Fred, but do try not falling into BB`s Quick Sand ?
Well Pards, it was still rather wet with a fine heavy sanding having been drifted upon its top, leaving it a crusty rice pudding like the Qattara Depression!

As can be seen all castings are fully inspected by my own hand picked Quality Control Staff. Each a fully trust worthy and well known of character on Line.




The first 40 Trees have been fully based up at the point of this entry,
and they sure ain`t a rolling over anywhere. BB

This is very odd sand from the desert regions of Yemen, and Oman in The Persian Gulf. Running short of my usual stuff i emptied out my old weary well worn army boots, and used that which fell out to spoon a dusting upon my wet bases. Of course nothing odd happened until Fred and MayBell were upon the sandy dusty scene. i am thinking there must be a logical tall tale,story in what they soon discovered? Eh?

RELAXED in a laidback way.

O', yes most certainly i was relaxed in part of my average day at play.
It was my Mrs B, who kindly took the photograph. The new paints she bought for me do not splash or run which is a rare bonus as far as my painting skills are concerned.

Yes Peter,you have a keen eye.
One must make do,by boiling that awful tasting tap water, so we make lots of tea with it. i have cut down on sugar in my cuppa teeeee, but munch Chocolate Wagon Wheels and Chocolate covered Ice Cream Lolly`s to make up for it.

A few tree`s each day for two months should see me ready to landscape and put a topping on each and every tree. `It is a long and winding road .' BB

Within a jiffy it was disappearing from view.
Duck Diving, we called it in the Service.



Well within two ticks ... up it popped again,and this time with another.
Now those tiny things can get rather big,
and enough ta scare me out of my boots.
Ooooo! No not that?
If that were to happen then it would be Certified as a P G.


Getting back to my theme,i remember seeing these little guys before somewhere else. i will ponder upon where it was, and hopefully get back with another posting.

i`m sure Fred and MayBell, will help out remembering just where, Where was?

Yippee!.... bb`s wire arrived and like a kid with a new toy he cracked on with finishing his tree`s. Yip! He sure did Pards.

and so it was, even though being a week behind in his schedule bb, duly arrived at the gluing and painting stage of this three tree production... Eh, He did?... yes most certainly he did wingnut.
