It's been a week ago I went to Crisis, and didn't but much there.
Just some paint and a new brush for my never ending Asterix project.
But there was one figure I had to buy there:

Yeah I like comics, and I could't resist this lonesome Cowboy and his dog...
The figures are from Stronghold terrain, and cost 9,90 euro
There was also a cool set with outlaws, but in my painting speed that wouldn't be smart to buy..

So this will be next year a theme on my monthly post, between those Asterix figures...

And now I wonder how many years it will take before it is not allowed to sell smoking miniatures anymore. There is already a serious discussion about this concerning film and television images.

STIRLINGS LADS

This seven set figure set is a facsimile of David Stirling,Paddy Main and the rest of the S A S Lads from the photograph shown below taken in North Africa sometime after May 1942.

Yes there are two figures with each TAMIYA Jeep,but I needed those guys in the photograph.

Here are the 1/35 scale Long Range Desert Group comrades in arms with
David Stirlings brand new regiment of 1st S. A. S.
The Special Air Service,a name first formulated to confuse the German High Command.
One must be made aware some L R D G kits are figures only.
I settled for this TAMIYA KIT because is a full set with vehicle
and none combat poses which was what I wanted.

I earlier miss-spelled the name "Paddy Mayne." Sorry for that. BB

Hi guys nice of you to comment.

This and the last kit shown,are the first in 1/35 scale that I have bought.
There are no other plans to buy others,but who knows I might see a bargin and add more to my stash!
I might have to commission the painting of them though.

The Box Art is great on all the sets,and what is shown on the box you get.
As you can see the L. R. D. G. has now been added.
One cannot have a cart without the horses if you get my drift?

The Long Range Desert Group members were all volunteers from other British regiments, including the R A F,but also taken from the British Common Wealth too. From other branches of service even Doctors and Civil Servants were included. These guys were operating long before the S. A. S. in the desert and did provide a Taxi type service for Stirlings men to and from their missions, but don`t get me wrong everyone pulled their weight and there was no such thing as a free ride.
Officers commanding L. R. D. G.never had an assigned batman,and it was the same for them as inlisted men alike.
Officers commanded ,but It was all pull together whatever low dirty job came up.
In a four man team, that function could mean survival.

Sorry for slow response Jan,
days are fast flying past as this year runs its ever eventful course to its final end. I must admit I had no idea of those Kits you mentioned and I will be looking into obtaining a couple.
.....Updated! I had a shock to see £39.99 for a boxed kit,but faint heart never won a day,and soon I found some at £16.00_____but soldiered on to find the good price at £7.99 a box,and I bought the last two they had for £15.98 plus postage.

If I remember correctly there were 70 of these obsolete armoured cars in the western desert war.
The R A F guys are of great interest mainly because as well as patrols around airfields they located lost aircraft in the desert whenever possible, and also on occasion rescued downed pilots in the desert war. Italian, German along with our own British and Commonwealth guys.It was a harsh tough desert war,but at times there was place for some compassion. It was not a case to take prisoners, it was a greater cause to save lives. _____Hopefully there are many alive in Europe today because of it.

Mrs B`s Dad was in the R A F, working on Spitfires in N Africa during the Desert War period.
He promised himself that he would never stand or walk on sand ever again, and my good friend George Jacobs never did.

I have seen the Roden-Kits in my local toystore here. But I walked around and stay away because there are still some other thing I would like to buy before. But I am happy for you that you could get two for a fair price.
And I am happy as well, that I could give you a new idea. Never tought this might be possible. :-D
