Battle for Mockern 1813 Project WIP

Posted by chen on 26 Sep 2023, 03:09

Hi gents,

I think it'd be better to start a new thread in the WIP section to update my Leipzig Game project.
The old topic is here:
http://bennosfiguresforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=26370

Our local club members (a total of 5) will be meeting in a month, so this is the time left for me to paint as many figures as possible. Luckily we will have the week-long Mid-Autumn day + National Holiday here in China, so... only a month of hard work ahead!

I've just finished all the Prussian units of Yorck's 1st Army Corps (in a 1:100 ratio). And Yorck himself is in position.

I displayed all the cavalries in the Army Corps together for a group shot. Hope it can give you an quick impression of how the battlefield looks like.

Then is the peculiar-looking East Prussian National Cavalry Regiment, a conversion inspired by Rafael an old member of our forum in Spain.

I agree. The conversions are very creative and the result looks very good. I think it is no option for you, since shipping and handling is to expensive, but Art Miniaturen https://www.schmaeling.de has a wide range of Napoleonic Figures, e. g. The East Prussian National Cavalry. FYI only!

On the other hand: working on the conversions might be more fun than just order tin figs.

Keep up the good work!

Some excellent conversions on display and the painting is superb.

The Art Miniturian range as stated has some excellent Prussian figures and Schillings Landwehr are lovely too.

Best wishes,

Chris

All those Prussian cavalry units are masterpieces with such fantastic painting and beautiful bases, chen. As a fan of conversions, I especially love yours.

Thanks my friends, especially for reminding me of the excellent Art Miniaturen figures. I did plan to order some of them for our game early this year, but it's a shame that the awful state of my budget has pinned me down... so now it's become a matter of "do what I can with what I have at hand". Anyway it's still a good thing, I think, that you see the stack of model boxes is really reducing (which I suppose may not be the usual case in our hobby).

Just managed to come over some books about the Prussian army and still have some of my own figures to paint (and luckliy I don't have a certain time I have to be finished). This is great inspiration even if I am far from your painting standard, And very nice conversions!

Dear friends,

Thanks for all your nice comments. I've been working hard this month to finish as much as I can, and now the French units are all combat ready.

Here are the 2 newly completed divisions:

GdD Compans' 20th Division
Image

The bulk of this division are the 2 regiments of Naval Artilleurs, which are converted from Revell's Old Guard and Strelets' infantries in greatcoat with some headswaps and putty work. The other 2 provisional regiments in this division are not my task so are not yet present in this photo.

I wanted to make ‘custom’ HQ for this specific division, so here instead of an ordinary ADC beside Compans, I've added a Naval Artillery officer converted from Hat's Light Infantry Command set.

This is my favourite unit so far, for their special uniforms are really outstanding among ranks.

Cheers,
Chen

And GdD Friederichs' 22nd Division

I know the old Esci figures have wrong uniform in terms of accuracy as well as for the period, but I just couldn't ignore them and I thought the 'old' uniforms might make a little bit of sense in the so-called provisional regiments.

The other brigade are made up of 3D printed figures, correctly in the Badin uniform.

Now I only have some Russians to finish...

Excellent French units, and quite outstanding painting. Well done indeed!

And I like the 3D printed figures very much (the marching French figures in particular). Are these commercially available?
