Imperial guard

Posted by atalante on 27 Aug 2023, 11:13

Another series started: the Imperial Guard of Byzantium.
The figs come from Linear-A and it's not bad at all.
As usual, the base is not done... and the idea of a dio is not yet present.
Right now, I'm sending paint, the rest we'll see later!

Oh, I discover this topic right now, from the title I thought it was about Napoleonics... Agaaaaain (Oh, I should take pictures of mine one of these days  )

Byzantine imperial guard, that's something new, great figs and nice pictures. Since I recently bought the same sets, I'm looking for documentation. Can you give us your sources ? Or maybe master Chariobaude could give us some clue ? Thanks

Thanks for the positive comments!
For the sources, well... A few searches on the internet (didn't find much) and then the feeling!

i have to make some researchs, but it seems that they aren't not many differences with late roman clothes, weapons ecc... in fact, Justinian and his era is surely "closing" that era, Military, politics, or legals systems are absolutely the same as those of Valentinian time for instance, with very little differences.
I'll try to post some pics later !
Back to your figs Atalante, they are very nice !!

Although I know it's difficult, I like these figures even more than the Persians and Gondor warriors before them, atalante.

Your painting style is amazing, and the Imperial Guard unit looks great, with those colourful uniforms and those magnificent shields. The nobles are not bad either. :notworthy: :winky:

Santi.

Super great job on these figures. My respect for the combination of precisions and selection of colors.

I also thought nappies when I read the title. Even though I still am quite fond of nappies, I was very happy to see your work!
