I had time to finish the French guard horse artillery, the specificity of this unit is to have only black horses and the limber has 4 horses instead of 6, because the gun is lighter and they can move faster, they played an important role in the battle of Borodino by causing tremendous losses in the Russian guard regiments.
The base color for the wagons and pontoons is Tamiya XF57 buff, with a black wash, followed by a drybrush Vallejo 70874 tan earth, another drybrush 70874 mixed with white (90%) but only on edges. Vallejo 70864 natural steel for the metal parts, underlined in black with a thin brush.
For the artillery it’s Tamiya XF26 green with a black wash, a drybrush Tamiya XF49 Khaki, another drybrush Vallejo 70921 English uniform, which is the main tone for those very light layers of highly diluted green shades who give such result. It’s followed by a black wash only around prominent details, then a drybrush 70921 (10%) mixed with white (90%) only on edges. Metal parts are Vallejo 70864 natural steel underlined in black.
The cannon tube is painted Vallejo 70998 bronze, with a first global black wash, and after that, 2 more blackwash but only around details, then a drybrush 70998 on the details and prominent edges.
The cover for the 2 green wagons is Vallejo 70883 silvergray with a black wash and a white drybrush.
Straps and ropes are Vallejo 70837 pale sand with a black wash (90% of water mixed with 10% of black).
The base color of horses is Tamiya white, black and XF10 flat brown.
The white horses received a Vallejo black wash, a white drybrush, and a black drybrush but only on the legs. Mane and tail are painted 70819 Iraqi sand + black wash and drybrush of the sand color mixed with white. Hoof are vallejo 70874 tan earth, black eyes, mouth and nose. Muzzle is made of a drybrush (Vallejo 70870 marine grey).
The brown horses are covered with a drybrush Vallejo 70872 chocolate, legs, tail, mane and eyes are black, tail and mane drybrushed with Vallejo 70883 silvergray? White stains on muzzle or legs, hoof are 70987 medium grey.
The black horses received a drybrush black mixed with 5% of white
Tail and mane : Drybrush 70883 silvergray, hoof are pure black.
Equipment for the horses :
Saddle blanket : 70809 blue with wash and drybrush (for the black horses), 70841 Andrea blue for the others, with wash and drybrush. The red part is first painted in white, and then painted red 70909.
Sheepskin saddle : 70837 pale sand + wash and drybrush, red stripe is Vallejo 70909.
Horse hitch collar : it’s black on the down side and Vallejo 70893 us dark green with wash and drybrush on the front side.
Blanket rolled up at the back of the saddle : Royal blue 70809 and red 70909.
Small rectangular saddle : Vallejo 70875 beige brown with wash and dryprush.
Tail strap and under saddle : 70940 saddle brown
The straps of individual horses are black and also red close to the muzzle, for the harnessed horses it’s Vallejo 70837 pale sand underlined in black, buckles are 70864 natural steel, also underlined in black.
The base of the wagons and limbers is made of PVC sheet, 1mm thick, covered with white glue (for wood), spreaded of a mixture of earth, painted in brown, with a black wash and a pale sand (nearly white) drybrush.
