The Pacific: A WWII project

Posted by PaulRPetri on 06 Sep 2024, 01:08

I thought I would post some pictures of my latest and greatest project. Hah! Anyway more stuff from a Painting Hack!

Some 3d printed bunkers I had made up. Turned out pretty good.

With the top off.

Here is three out of the six I had made. Probably overkill.
Image

All six in their box. Three of them will be used for my Vietnam War project which is underway.
Image

Now few shots of my Marines based for the great war-game Crossfire.
Image

Another group.
Image

Another company of figures with some battalion extras.
Image

Two half tracks, 3d printed bought off of Ebay, with pack howitzers on them for anti tank defense.
Image

3d printed Amtraks also 3d printed bought off of Ebay. Very cheep.
Image

The whole group.

I hope to have my Japanese forces photographed soon and posted. As always thanks for looking.

Just for info which I forgot to include in the original post is that most of the Marines are from Revell with a few Matchbox figures thrown in as original figures or the Mars recasts. The two anti tank guns are from Mars with Matchbox knock off figures included. All of the heavy machine guns are Mars and Matchbox figures.

That looks very nice Paul!

Are that aquarium plants that you used on the bunkers?

Yes I used the very handy aquarium plants. I have 48 CD's with jungle terrain on them with plastic palm trees and a host of aquarium plants. Saved lots of time and work for me.

Interesting subject matter.

The ‘Pacific’ series combat sequences should provide plenty of inspiration .

I have dived some of the arenas wrecks.

The fighting was savage.

Best wishes,

Chris

Thanks Chris. Diving wrecks you are quite the Adventurer! Yes the Pacific series has inspiration but I really enjoyed E.B. Sledge's book with the old breed. His description of the fighting at the airport is riveting.

Paul your projects are truly inspiring! You might consider introdducing lighting effects, such as reflections on water or shadows in the terrain;, which would add depth to your scenes. It wo uld also be interesting to see how different times of day affect the appearance of your units ;-)!
