Okay! I thought that it could be nice to see if I had planned to paint too many figures as usual so I tried to make a little setup. Nothing, absolutely nothing, could stand on that slippery hill from GW. So, not yet anyway, these are not casualties. And the elves I think I'll split up among the different groups. Maybe three with the cavalry and one in the command and one in the infantry, something like that. My idea is that Isildur's get separated, i.e. the cavalry ride into the forest and get annihilated there while the command and the infantry get separated from each other. I realize that I'll probably have to paint all the orcs I have (not that many in this scale) and a couple more infantry. The computer played tricks on me while I saved the picture so the text looks a little odd. But this will take a while to finish!

:coffee: "i've been pondering, yes pondering over a thoughtful bag of thoughts.
Which is kind of dicey for the likes of little ol' me."
:eh: 'Very true.'
:sst: 'but is lots of fun.'
 'He he, is there also room enough left for a dutiful Gunnar dog too? '
:coffee: 'You read my mind MrGreen, and after all my ponderings over a great big bag of thoughtful things to add. So now i have nothing more to say other than this,' Well done Gunnar, you are still that wide eyed star boy, full of bright beaming ideas.' BB

Well, not 50, but some variation at least. :-D I use my standard showoffbase, because the real base is quite slippery and I'll have to glue the figures in place and it is not ready for that yet. But the orc horde is finished! And displayed as I plan to put them on the real base.

Here is the big force all together:

Image

These will attack the cavalry in the forest. (Yes, Isildur made the mistake of dividing his troops!):

Image

Here we see the orc chief with his magicians and a general and the orcs that attack the Numenorian staff. Here the orcs have some casualties because there are some elves with the staff. And because of that the orcs are a bit cautious in their attack here.

Image

And here is the main fighting! The infantry/rear guard is brutally attacked. Just one elf here and he lost his bow. No casualties yet, but since the Numenorians are almost annihilated there will be, but not on this little scene.

Simply put, Isildur's divided forces. One foot figure among the cavalry. The idea is that he will sneak behind a tree. Sources for figures: Caesar, Itaelri, Zvezda, Strelets, Alliance.

The rear guard (heaviest fighting):

The staff (not attacked yet due to the Elven archers):

And the cavalry (lured into the forest and attacked a massive force of orcs):

And all together:

And next time it's the base ... phew!

A little update to show that I really do something with the base and not just adding figures (like I do in some other projects I have ... ). There will be more grasstufts in the water and on land. I will add more trees too (a lonesome pine isn't much of a forest, not even when it is in the wrong part of the dio. :-D ).

How is it going with my Gladden fields? I've ran out of grasstufts! :( and money. So right now I will be painting figures from the stash! Here it is how it looks now, not that satisfied with the forest. The stag and the others won't be there with Isildur! We can look at my little break from this project that I give Isildur some more time to live. And he can keep the ring a little while longer!

Rummaged through the hobby room and found some grasstufts and flowers and can probably say that this is finished! Just have to dust off the glass before I can take some pics!
