This is the first time we've seen Egyptian Ptolemaic soldiers represented in 1/72 scale, and they're such excellent sculpts! This will definitely add diversity to the usual lineup of pikemen in the Hellenistic age.

Very good figurines for a wide range of centuries and cultures. Also the poses make sense. Well done.

came across this news on the linear A forums. looks like 3 sets will be for sale shortly, and possibly a 4th. We have seen some poses of the surprise set, I wonder if its not all phalanx and has other poses in there too? (since it is like the other 3 phalanx sets they have done but say it is unique, or is that it just being Egyptian has never been done before? )

Hello Felix,
here are some answers.
Set #038 can be bought in a couple of weeks, not 2 weeks.
the Athenians and Syracusans will also be ready at the same time.
SURPRISE Set #050 remains a SURPRISE Set and pictures will only be available immediately prior to launch. So the tension remains, the only thing we will reveal, there has never been a set like this before - the total confusion

All three sets will be a buy for me. I personally think I'll use the Athenians as Spartans, and make a separate Syracuse army. I have far, far too many projects in the pipeline. I do love these sculpts so far though, very thankful that Linear-A exists!

yes, these are must buys, long awaited, not even sure I have seen all the poses but have been some of my favorites.

I was going to get the Caesar Greek hoplites but instead have been waiting for this set, and the ancient romans are also incredible.

I really do like the poses here, the detail and edges on the Athenian hoplites are fantastic. On some level, I do think we have enough hoplite sculpts, but I'm not going to complain that we're getting more. I value having unique poses in my units.

I really do like the Caesar Hoplites, I think they're some of the best in 1/72 alongside Zvezda. Why not both, haha?

I don't know about historical accuracy, but does anyone know if the Syracuse hoplites didn't have helmet crests? I like how they appear to have their own aesthetic, but I can't find anything casually with a Google search.

Loving the new models of course!

They have not revealed much of the Persian Cavalry set that is also at stage 7 of completion. I wonder will it have a chariot?

That would be nice, but too much to ask and too little diversity of pose?

These Hoplites may be the nicest set I've seen on pictures. Hope production values ran well.

Some good news!

Thanks Erich,
all these Linear-A sets are fantastic again, Peloponnes, Syracuse and Cunaxa. Just a squibble that the Persian horse is just too diverse to turn the set into a useful force on the field. You need to add reinforcements from other sets - be creative - and there's not a lot out. Probably I'll use Phrygians.
