My AFV vehicles

Posted by Xantippos on 12 Oct 2021, 16:00

Even if this forum is about figurines, I believe vehicles are a crucial part of the hobby, and it might be found of interest by other fellow members ;-) , and moreover when I usually picture them with crew or others.

So, I will post them all here to keep it simple! hope you enjoy them;

ImageImage Image

D-37 Russian Armoured wagon; a small nice kit from UM Models. Very unusual model, as you hardly see such obscure themes, and with a decent price tag too. I managed to find a good interesting camo to escape from the typical green.

ImageImage

M-3 White; this I got through Revell's reissue. It is 1/76, and is very noticeable when placed along the Hasegawa true 1/72, but is still nice, more as it is the Flak version.

ImageImageImage

Sherman Italeri; I believe a Esci reissue. It's really very impressive as to how the engine is made and represented in such a tiny scale! I believe it is a 1/35 kit, shrunk. The pilot is fun, although he seems a bit a cross between a zombie and a robot!

ImageImage

Finnish T-26 early tank; another UM models. Wonderful to be able to build such obscure kits, and for a forgotten belligerent side like Finland!

ImageImage

T-26, Flamethrower; this is the flame shooting variant, for the Red Army. I was googling a long time to find a russian camouflage that was different to what I had built previously.

AEC Matador halftrack; here I had one of those rare chances to do a conversion without spoiling kits; I had two old kits, with various missing parts, and while googling possibilities, I stumbled onto a impressive real wartime photo of this, a half tracked AEC Matador. Apparently, it was only a prototype, but I've stretched it to depict it reached the desert (one never knows!). The actual prototype depicts some more sturdier tracks, but it was tried onto a Chevrolet with Bren Gun tracks, so I figured that was good enough.

I like the cammo and the model of the first one. The second one is original from Matchbox, but yes reissued by Revell. Third one is indeed original from Esci, the engine tells us that. ;-)

The other ones I don't know. The T26 Flametrower is from which brand? And I have never seen a Matador half track.

All your models look fantastic! :thumbup:

A very interesting collection of AFVs, and I like the variety and more unusual vehicles you have shown here.

The AEC Matador truck certainly did feature as a prototype half-tracked vehicle. In fact, Matador Models, a specialist UK model manufacturer, does feature in their range a conversion kit for the Airfix 1/76 Matador kit, and the result looks like this:

I really like the so original camo schema that you put them on.
It may not be 100% realistic but very beautiful ...

Thanks for the comments ;-) .

Both T-26 are UM Models.

I did mine before the set of Matador Models came out :-) , something that happens to me very often! I make a project or version, and soon something comes out! anyway, I am happy with it.

I really like different and original camos. I research strongly, sadlly many times I dont find anything interesting and so kits are stalled for ages!

For example, this Sherman is based on this;

Image

Which has been interpreted in many ways, little dots ranging from green, to dark green, to black, to blue, dark grey... Corgi here also thought it was blue;

Image

Probably not so blue, but was fun doing it and still historically plausible!

7 more for the week;

Image

Image

Image

Sturer Emil; famous prototype, which reportedly reached a large amount of kills. Here there is just I think 2 ways of painting it, and I left it grey so it was the one of the ace.

Image

Image

Image

M6 Portee; a nice little kit, for once I painted exactly the same as the box. Although it has some flaws (too high suspension), I only learned this when it was already finished!

Image

Image

Image

GMC Trucks; the classical trucks made by Hasegawa. Very nice and solid kits, I love the metal axles on them, and the fact they give you 3 figures with the tanker version!

Image

Image

Image

Ford Quad with cannon; a beautiful set, with plenty of figures. I was shocked when I opened it (it was a present) and the figures were the same than the 1/35 Tamiya which I had! anyway, this is how cannons should be sold; along with a vehicle to tow and crew to operate.

Image

Image

Image

Cruiser tank; this is a very old kit, one that is a bit battered after so many battles and house removals ;-) .

Image

Image

Image

This might be my most accurate AFV so far, the Panzerhaubitze 2000. Done in pixel camo for the Qatar army, and photoed among some figures to keep in line with the forum's theme :P .

Image

Image

Image

Finally, Stridsvagn 2000. And yes, it does exist painted like this, I have proof :P . Certainly, you'd have a hard time camouflaging with this colours! unless it is on Swedish national day, or in front a Ikea :xd: . But it was so fun I had to do it.

Wonderfull new pictures! I like them all! :thumbup:

I like the GUNNAR tank at the end! I heard a rumour that he has free ways and no problem to find a parking place when he goes shopping! :mrgreen: ;-) :thumbup:

Thanks for the comments ;-) .

I bring you 7 more, for the week;

Einheitdiesel; German truck for WW2, a nice kit with metal axles. Photographed one day it snowed in Spain!

Image

Image

I saw this looking through eBay, and although it is 1:69 I thought it was pretty good to combine with 1/72 soldiers, besides I'am practically sure it was impressed by the army being a model of 1932.

It is originally a Matchbox model;

Image

And I have repainted with a camo I found in another kit;

Image

Image

Image

Image

Here, the Leopold gun! a kit built by my father, which I and my brother painted. We didn't buy the crew of Hasegawa, which was about half the price of the cannon itself, but instead reused some various model kit men;

ImageImageImageImage

Leichter Schutzenpanzerwagen; or what is the same, a german armoured french military tractor  :-) . A fiddly little kit by Ace models.

Image
Image
Image
Gaz AA with Flak; a nice set of a russian truck, with german flak, used by the Finnish  :P  in WW2.

Image
Image

Aufklärung Fahrzeug (Matchbox Baja Buggy conversion) 1/72; A military conversion, of a Matchbox toy car, into a menacing german armoured transport  :-) .

Image
Image
Image

And finally, a similar conversion, a Suzuki toy car into a type of british liaison Humber car.

Oops, I was missing one;

Image

Image

Image

Scorpion Airfix; a very tiny model, in 1/76. Painted for urban camo for Berlin post war.

A nice lot of different kits and conversions additional different camouflage.
From railroad over wheeled to tracked vehicles.
With one, two, three axles and much more.
Great variation !

I give a thumb up.

I think this Swedish low gun tank is developed only to keep the IKEA price always on the level of his gun.
If one price starts to get too high the gun will immediately ... :cowboy:

Well done
:yeah:

Morris gun tractor, old Airfix kit, with some improvements.

 IS-2 Stalin; a kit I had wanted for years and years, after always seeing in a book a pic of it! I was very happy to get it, I built it but left it unpainted for a few years, until I found a exciting enough camo  :-) .

Esci M-12; a tank built eons ago by my father, and which I played and battered until very little of it remained  :eh: . Still, enough for me to restore it and save it for posterity!

And finally, a small allied desert convoy with some kits I hadn't shown yet. Curiously, I havent painted many WW2 figures, these are some of the few I've got painted.

I love seeing those old Airfix sets, especially the Matador and Dingo (love armoured cars!) and that crazy little Vickers tank. The beach set up is original!
