Today I heard the news that Christopher plummer has died at the age of 91. I loved him for the way he played the Duke of Wellington in the Waterloo movie! That movie was a great inspiration for me!

RIP Sir Plummer. He was indeed the penultimate Duke of Wellington, cool under fire, self--assured with a fine sense of humor. Perhaps not entirely true to the character but it worked wonderfully for the movie. My favorite scene is when he catches the man with the pig in his backpack saying "he may be the only man in the army that knows what he's doing" or something to that effect. Nobody will top his performance in that role.

There is a difference with the book. In the movie that man gets promotion, while in the book he gets punished. But I had a read at Marvin's blog and there he says that Sir Plummer did some changes in the script. That might be one of them. It is a funny scene indeed! :-D
