Warlord Enemy (ies) of Rome

Posted by k.b. on 25 May 2023, 15:49

Here's a lone Warlord Gaul wearing a captured Roman helmet and eyeing up his best form of attack (a strange pose to my mind but obviously Warlord don't agree)! I can only presume he's sizing up his chances of how to tackle a Roman shield wall.
I deliberated carefully over some stripey trousers but thought my first few Gauls would be more discreet. From what i understand about warpaint it was restricted to the Barbarian ancestors of mine from The British Isles but if anyone knows more on the subject please feel free to comment.

Just this minute realised i need to touch up the knuckles on his right hand - I scraped away some mould lines and forgot to retouch the painting.

Ps/ this figure was done as some light relief (see Patrickj71 it affects us all) and to overcome the tedium demon from what feels like an eternity working on my 1/72 Napoleonic cavalry. As it's a bigger scale it's also easier on my eyes!!!

Not everyone's cup of tea these Gauls.....by the looks of things. Mine neither to be brutally honest!

I agree with Peter: you did a good job on them.
There's a lot of expression in their faces and the skin is very well done.
I can see why this is a relief to paint something else than Napoleonics.
Thanks for sharing

I agree with the opinion of the two Belgians above. Great work on both figures, k.b.

These two brave and well-built Gauls look impressive, but by themselves they are no match for a Roman cohort....I look forward to seeing some companions?

Keep up the good work!

I also think you did a good job on them. And if he captured a roman helmet he is probably Obelix!
