Cofalu ACW Figures

Posted by Peter on 21 Mar 2023, 13:29

Today again a before and after story. Found this figures in a big bunch of other figures and first I didn't know what brand they were. Thanks to the help of some friend on Facebook I know now that they are Cofalu toy figures. French brand 54mm.

And there is something with the officer that isn't right. Maybe you can find out what? ;-)

The green of the base reminds me of my old Britains swappits. I had revolution and civil war figures probably 100 or more. No idea how valuable they might become I gave them away as a teenager. That officer has no epaulettes or lace anywhere so mb he's pretending?

Thank you David!
I have 4 from those Britains swoppets for sale, but the bases are a bit darker. The base looks like the Britains figures with metal bases. It's a bit youth sentiment because I couldn't have these figures when i was young. Now most of my 54mm figures that I paint have this green base.

The answer on the officer is not what I'm looking for. ;-)

The feet fit on pegs of the bases, yes, those were the ones I had. My Revolutionary war figures even had separate wigs! Then they switched to cheaper models but with metal bases but the entire figure was static. Ah memories. No bars or sash for your officer - was that what you're looking for?

Hmm, the sword sheath (?) and pistol holster should be reversed? Think we had one or two of the ACW swoppets. Cowboys we had A LOT, but soldiers weren't that common.

I thought the unusual thing was that the officer used a flintlock pistol in the 1860s rather than a six-shot revolver. It seems I was mistaken.

Looks you are also right Santi. Looking at the video Paul posted the gun is also wrong. ;-)

Thanks Paul! Looks like this isn't an officer but someone that looks like one. Wrong gun, no bars and stash, the belt is wrong.... Nevertheless it stays a nice figure to paint! :-D
