1st Minnesota, the Lincoln Guards First Mannassas, 1861

I share with you the last bust that I have painted during the summer holidays, I hope you like it.
I have enjoyed it a lot and the size is ideal so as not to get lost in long painting sessions, as always a mixture of acrylic and oil.

Is 1/16 scale.

For this bust it took about 12 hours of work, keep in mind that I also paint with oils and you have to leave a few days to dry between painting sessions.

Nice painting Santi. I like his clean kepi, being his first campaign he finally gets to wear it!

Very nice work indeed Santi. What a beautiful colour you’ve painted his shirt. Love the leather which looks very real as does everything about the rifle.
If I had to find fault I might say that where his fingers are holding the rifle butt perhaps the painting could be a bit sharper…….
And maybe the photographs could have had fewer shadows around the eyes…… the first thing I look at on any large scale figure is the eyes, and in truth, I can’t see them very clearly on this figure. I don’t doubt that they are beautifully painted - from what I can see I think they are - only there are shadows hiding your lovely brushwork.

He really is a fine looking fellow.

Excellent painting.

Those fingers do look a bit strange but perhaps it’s the casting.

Well done Santi.

Best wishes,

Chris
