Grenadier Guard cartoon figure

Posted by Santi Pérez on 08 Sep 2022, 19:23

I have finally finished and photographed the souvenir figure of a British Grenadier Guard already presented in the Work in Progress section together with its painting process:

The usual first picture for scale purposes:

And now the sequence of pictures comparing the original figure, the primed and half-painted version, and the final figure view from different angles:

The difference "before" - "after" is stunning: you have transformed a toy into a little piece of art!

Wonderful Santi! You've turned him into a souvenir worth having.

Classic Santi style of course, but also, I think that he looks every bit as smart as a real Guardsman. I'm sure he'll continue to give you lots of good memories of your trip to London.

Thank very much for your kind words, friends.

Actually, I already have some other souvenir figures from previous trips to other European cities (Athens, Turin, Dubrovnik, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Edinburgh, Prague, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tallinn, etc.). Although most of them don't look cartoonish, maybe at some point in the future I'll decide to paint or repaint them (depending on whether I bought them unpainted or already painted).

Cheers. ;-)

Thanks so much, Jan. I have decided that I will maintain my actual avatar. You already know my special devotion to the Swiss Guard. Perhaps I will consider changing it in the more distant future, once I can get someone of the converted figures that I have on my list of pending works. ;-)
