Strelets news 2020 - 2024

I really hope the Russian Jaegers scale well with the Zvezda Heavy Infantry Grenadiers. After 1811, each Russian Grenadier Battalion had one company of Jäger Grenadiers (called Strelki) which I have painted by removing the shako plumes from the Zvezda Grenadier figures. It would be great to mix these Strelet figures into my already painted Russians, but the Zvezda figures are on the large side.

On a side note - I think the two figures above are modelled with the Russian model 1805 rifle that was limited to NCOs and 12 marksmen in each Jäger company. I'm looking forward to seeing more previews of this upcoming set to see if all of the figures are modelled as marksmen.

I had a similar size issue trying to tweak some Zvezda Old guard with some HaT guard Chasseurs. I had to trim down the bearskins a bit and cover the helmet plate. As for the Russian Jaegers I wasn't thrilled with the options but bit the bullet and bought 3 boxes of the Red Box Light Infantry. Now I see these fine fellows coming out. Oy vey! My timing is bordering on terrible.

There is a big contrast between those two Australian figures. One looks to be dressed for summer and the other one, with that long coat, for winter. :eh:

That's right!

This looks like early morning 'Stand To', waiting for Fliegerkorp X to finish their breakfast.

I agree, the two figures do not look to be in the same climate zone. The kneeling figure with the mortar round looks fine, although I do wonder whether serving a mortar while wearing a slouch hat would be very practicable. But the standing Bren Gunner looks rather strange to me, almost like a character from a Phillip Pullman 'Dark Materials' story?? I have seen many photos of Australians at Bardia in 1941 wearing greatcoats, helmets and full webbing, but not in this casual mode.

Great to see some more Italians for the desert. The Waterloo1815 sets are not the best option.

This weeks preview reveals some interisting figures again.

WWII French Foreign Legion support weapons set?
Image

Can‘t identify the headgear of the figure with certainty from this angle? Early to mid 20th century, could be late WWI / interwar German helmet (in foreign use)?
Image

A dramatic Nap. Bavarian infantry grunt (hopefully from an upcoming firing line set).
Image

Honestly, too early in the morning for me to properly identify this nice 19th century figure? Nap. Prussian Landwehr (if so, hopefully firing line as well)?
Image

Guessing and identifying the regularly shown figures is the most welcome friday activity, isn't it? :-D :yeah:

I guess as well, that the last figure is a Prussian officer.

The Italian infantry in Africa is very interesting, but there is a mistake. Bersaglieri have feathers on the right side of the helmet and not left.
