1-72 Scale Model of Hougoumont Chateau card model...

Posted by Harry Faversham on 03 Sep 2021, 15:28

I'm thinking of having a big, 'Old Skool' Airfix Battle of Waterloo game round about Crimbo. I've got a mint Airfix La Laye Saint and a scabby one to cobble together as Pappalotte. That just leaves His Grace's right flank bastion to glean. Has anyone any experience of this cardboard affair please? I reckon it's going to be a tad crap and a waste of money, but would be delighted if an enlightened Brethren proves me wrong!

You usually get what you pay for, there is a better plastic version on ebay, more money too and will need painting , but ticks lots of boxes from a weight storage etc perspective.

Finally decided to go 'all' Airfix in the Waterloo re-fight. The side of Hougoumont facing the battlefield's centre is all you really need in 'Old Skool', so that's wot got cobbled together. Airfix La Haye Sainte got tickled up a smidge to cover up the open doorways and wotnot. Just having one wall of Hougoumont now leave's room for Papalotte. Meaning, another farm is needed to throw that one together!
