Need help identifying 1/72 space figures

Posted by HoScaleGeek on 16 Aug 2014, 16:16

Dear members,
The following URLs bring you to pictures from my own Flickr account of space figures that I couldn't identify so far. If you like to use the pictures in any manner feel free to do so, btw.

I kindly request any of you to provide me with information that could be of help identifying them. They don't appear to be part of the soldiers boxes like Airfix, Esci and so on, I think I know these series too well to be able to exclude that possibility.

What I know so far:
- Sometimes I encountered these second hand, in very small numbers (between 8 and 15 figures).
- Both sides (blue ones, white ones) were in the same buy repeatedly. As if both sides belonged to a single set.
- The painting is always the same type so I assume this is a factory prepainting.
- It's no Star Wars
- Underneath the bases are codes, like A1, B3, A16 etc., representing the poses. As far as I know the numbers in these poses are from 1 through 18 which means there are 18 different poses. 9 for the red troops, and at least 9 for the blue troops.
- The overall impression of the quality is high, they have a plastic feel like Matchbox or something comparable.

What I would like to know:
- Who is the manufacturer
- When was it marketed
- How was it marketed (did they come with a vehicle, spaceship etc, is there a name of a series or a theme etc etc).

Not knowing any manufacturer etc is as if you're searching for them blindfolded. It would be of so much help to have some decent search entries for this.
Any info on this is warmly appreciated!

I'll upload a more complete picture very soon, in combination with these codes underneath the bases. Hang on.

I made a mistake in explaining the codes, this was old information before the second buy. Unfortunately I can't edit my first post anymore :-(.
The correct numbering goes from 1 to 18 but there are pairs of identical poses with only the code differing underneath the bases (for example A1-B1, A2-B2 etc are the same poses).
The white painted figures have poses numbered A1, B1, A2, B2, ..., A8, B8, A9, B9.
The blue ones have poses numbered A10, B10, A11, B11, ..., A18, B18.
That's how far it goes in my own collection. Don't know if there's any number 19 and further, or even a third party.

The following pictures show the poses in combination with the codes. This is my current state of knowledge about this set:

Thank you for this tip. I didn't find them on his site earlier on, but I could ask him if he knows it, he has a great expertise in toy soldiers and seems to have lived through the whole thing since the very beginnings!

I am still very interested in these figures; have you (or anybody else) made any breakthroughs as to their manufacturer?

They may be categorized as 30mm but they're like in between 1/72 and 30mm. At first glance they come across as 1/72. Still haven't found anything new thus far, unfortunately.

These soldiers were also available in 54mm, they featured in a copy of Plastic Warrior magazine in a futuristic American Civil War setting, they look quite nice but l have never been able to track any down.
