Wow !!!!!!!! You have an excellent and huge range of DBA armies !!! Sure a lot of hours painting , but sure a lot of hours enjoying playing !!! Impressive collection !! Congratulations. !
Wow, that's a lot of figures I'm sure you've told us before, but what do you use for your shading again?? I agree with Thomas that the shading doesn't work as well with every color, but en masse it looks pretty good, definitely gives them that battle-weary look...
My favorite:
Awesome work on that armor!
And by the way, where do you keep all of these figs? Do you have a secret basement we don't know about?
I agree. I like the subdued earthtones on the earlier pieces... gives a more realistic pictures with brighter colors coming in later settings. They DO have a "battle weary" look about them... when do you sleep?
The only think I did change since I posted this is that now I make different mixtures Black-Brown depending on the general color of the figures (the brown washing does not work very well with bluish painting like some of you pointed several times).
As always, all options included. The Goths have also all the Visigoths army bases, so they can face the 8th century Muslim invasion of southern europe.
Between the 8th and 15th centuries, the Iberian Peninsula was a disputed territory between Muslims and Christians. Of course, the North African forces crossing the Straits of Gibraltar in 711 and confronting the Visigothic kingdoms were very different from those surrendering Granada to the Catholic Kings in 1492 (the same year Christopher Columbus arrived in America! ) And, with a multitude of competing interests and kingdoms along such an extended period, the struggle was not always strictly between Christians/Muslims and all kind of alliances were possible.
These armies fit into the 11th century period, and are Andalusians versus Feudal Spanish with all options completed.
