Ola Joan,
these are just so great again. Actually, this HAT line is really good - one of those which convey some character and your painting makes them shine real well
Greetings

Your models look great! They look like they use a lot of washes - do you take a long time to paint your minis? The end result is great, what's your recipe? Are the shield patterns freehand?

Hi OwenChpw...

Yes, lots of washes and matte coat...

I couldn't tell for a single figure/base/army... I have hundreds of figures in progress from dozens of armies/periods at any given time. I jump from one to another or start a new one depending on my mood (I get bored of something easily if it takes too long... :-D)
As I post them here, some figures have been on my painting table for several years.

Yes, shields are freehand... As most of the flags are... 8)

Some Macedonian shields...

Carolingian Frankish army versus Early Muslim North Africa & Sicily

With all the armies I have from this period, Visigoths/Carolingians/Normans/Vikings/Anglo-Danish/Early Muslim/Andalusian/Feudal Spanish, I can cover a good deal of southern Europe's conflicts between the 7th and 11th centuries :-D

These pictures can represent from Poitiers to Roncesvalles.

I feel like I'm taking too much center stage at Benno's lately.... For wich I apologize
I'll leave it here for now.

Warm regards!

Joan

Centre stage with a virtuosic performance! Those hand-painted Macedonian shields knock me out. Just brilliant.
