The Norman cavalry deploy into extended line to screen the infantry as they form up. Slingers and crossbow men plug the gaps to harass the opposing shield wall. Norman archers form to the rear of the infantry formations, let battle commence.

Just terrific! I love seeing al the toys on the table and the chaotic formations of the early medievals make for a very energized battle line. I'm sure you have counted them - how many are there?

Time consuming on individual bases but the results speak for themselves .

Painting some 3000 figures to this standard is an achievement in itself. Well done indeed!

Quite apart from the hundreds of hours at the painting table, I suspect that laying out this many figures on the table in battle formation took the best part of a morning!

With the arrival of Phase 3, there are are so many chain-mailed infantry, mounted knights and archers in this Norman host that the Saxon shield wall will, I fear, be overwhelmed.
