I'm moderately pleased with my attempts at blond-headed Goths:
Tumbling Dice 20mm figs.

I like especially the warrior in the front row, second from the right. Great blond beard.

I think they look great, and I think you have mastered the challenge of painting blond hair quite well. In the light of the recent discussion, your figures demonstrate that it is much better to use shades of ochre or beige as a basis for blond hair, rather than pure yellow.

These look fine and suitably blonde, donald. You should be pleased with the result.

An observation if I may: blonde hair comes in many different shades, from very fair - a pale buff, almost grey if you like - to a fairly dark yellow/brown. So mixing the tones up a bit creates a more natural look. Take a discrete look at passing blondes in your neighbourhood and you'll get a sense for what these different tones look like at a reasonable distance.

But whatever, a good-looking and hirsute unit of Goth infantry on display here. Well done!

Thanks for all the kind comments.

I take your point, MM. The 8 figures I have here had their hair mixed & painted in groups of two.
I thought I had varied things enough but only 1 figure looks very different.

The unit needs to be 20+ so I'll try a bit harder for variety with the rest.

.....& as for watching blondes, my raven-haired wife might raise some objections.

cheers, donald

They look fantastic!

You painted them in groups of two you say. What technics did you use?

Nothing too radical in terms of technique. Just carefully block painting the colours, washing & then dry brushing the highlights. As always with irregular troops, I'd use a single colour for, say, two figures' trousers & one figure's smock until all were done.

I painted them as a group but left the hair, doing that in twos, to get some variation, which I didn't really get.

The Tumbling Dice figures are very pleasant to paint.

The blonds are nicely done, I must say. Good solution for the colour of hair.
