Why "catholic" pikemen? there were not catholic imperial pikemen? muslim pikemen? orthodox pikemen? protestant, lutheran pikemen?

The Thirty Years War was a religious war in the beginning. And you have the Protestants on one side and the catholics on the other.

yes, and the sides were "imperial" and "anti-imperial" or lutheran... so no need to say imperial AND catholic, unless there were, say, non-catholic allied fighting on imperial side.. and this would be not a strange thing
